hey this is my first post but ive been reading for a few weeks now. ok i decided im gonna go with an xb but i dont know whether i should get a BOP or go for the hot lava. i like the color of the hot lava a lot and i suppose the 6 cd changer is nice(even though i plan on puttin in a dvd player eventually) but the other accessories dont appeal to me all that much. i suppose the lighting would be a nice touch but i dont know if all of this warrants the $1000 price tag. im only putting about 3000 down on either one and it comes out to be about a $22 difference in monthly payments. i talked to the dealer near me and i have about a week to decide before they deck it out and turn it into a floor model. what do you all think i should do?

The reason that I did not get a Hot Lava was because I didn't want the accessories... I loved the color, and the grille, and the interior lighting is nice... But it wasn't worth $1000 to me, personally to get it... Of course it would be worth it to those who want the wing, hint of orange seats, etc etc.. But I liked the color I chose (camo) just as well as I liked the Hot Lava, and the camo was available when I was ready to buy in Feb... So it was a no-brainer for me...
Maybe when you yank out that 6-disc you can sell it and make up for some of the extra $$ you spent on the lava ;) .. GL with whatever you decide :)

the hot lava is ok, but it's way too played out IMO. i see Pontiac Vibes w/ that similiar color as well as some Caddies and full size Chevy trucks. I wish they just made the xB like super orange, like an old Dodge Charger orange. that would be way more unique. good luck on your choice.

I agree...I see a lot of Elements in that color...

i finally saw one in person a few weeks ago, and IMO, the color is kinda ugly. in person it looks like it kinda has some brown tint to it. But if you're choosing between a blue onyx or a hot lava, i would go with the hot lava just for the fact that it will be easier to take care of. the dark colors are hell to take care of. i have the black cherry, and i wash and WAX it at least once a week (more if it gets rained on or sumthin). but i have to wax it, otherwise you'll see all the swirlies from washin it :?

I chose the RS1 package because of the color AND the value. Here are the items you get in the package and what they cost separately (installed):
-Hot Lava Exterior Color
-Interior Fabric with Orange Highlights
-Billet Grille
-Pioneer AM/FM/6-CD Changer with 10-Color Change Illumination ($395)
-Individually Numbered Release Series Badge
-Orange Engine Bay Strut Tie Bar ($225)
-Orange Rear Spoiler ($385)
-Orange Underseat and Underdash lighting ($285)
-Orange Cupholder lighting ($299)
So, if you add up all the numbers above that's $1,589 right there. The RS1 package costs $980. So, you're saving $609.
But... you'll notice that I didn't put a price on a few things up there:
-Hot Lava Exterior Color
Custom paint jobs cost at least $1,500
-Interior Fabric with Orange Highlights
It would probably be about $300 for custom fabric
-Billet Grille
About $90 on Ebay
-Individually Numbered Release Series Badge
Hard to put a price on it but I'd say about $50
PLUS... the strut tower bar is painted orange. It can cost about $100 to get a part like that professionally painted.
So, add all that together and you get $3,629 worth of stuff for $980. I know it can be argued that all those things aren't really worth that much. However, you have to admit that the package has a lot of custom/unique parts that would cost a lot if you did it yourself. I think it's an awesome bargain personally.
I've got about 9 days till my RS1 5-speed arrives and I'm going to have a hard time sleeping.

If you really like the color I think 980.00 dollars is worth it for that alone. I was debating on getting one until they came out with the orange color. I like some of the other colors but the colors I wanted were hard to take care of. I like silver too but there are too many silver cars out there for my taste. The color takes on many different shades depending on lighting. Sometimes it looks like a bright orange and other times it looks like a burnt orange. It's a really nice color in my opinion and different.

The value is ridiculous, you get all this:
Spoiler
Strut Tower Bar
6 Disc Changer
Paint Job
Interior Lights (they're kinda weak but whatever)
Billet Grill
Paint Job
for $900. You can't beat that!

The Hot Lava is too Hot  It will burn your hands everytime you touch it.
Seriously though, the Camo Boxes are not getting any love. Camo's seem to be a very rare breed, more rarer it seems than the Hot Lava's. I would say get a Camo, I would have gotten a Camo except I dont want to keep cleaning the box.
