Does anybody know if the xb is considered a wagon??? the dealership guy says driver and passenger windows have to be 35% and all the other windows behind can be up to 5%. Is this true??? Or is the xb like a normal car with 35% all around to be legal?? By the way this is in Hawaii

Don't know about the tint laws in HI, but in Nebraska my Xb was registered as a 5 door wagon.

I live in AZ so you might have different laws in your neck of the woods :relief:
But I got my tint from www.tintmatrix.com and did 20% on the front two and 5% on the rest of my ride and it looks good :silly:
Also very easy when they are already cut for you! That's Tintmatrix for you. I couldn't find a better $ @ $85.00 bones for my whole wagon :lalala:
Just my .2 cents

yes, the Scion xB is classified as a "wagon/van/suv/truck" (whatever vernacular you choose).

this is why the back 7 windows on the xB are pre-colored from the manufacturer - ONLY the above designated vehicles are permitted to carry factory colored glass

that also explains why xA's are not tinted like their xB sibling. They're CARS, not van/suv's.

this classification is set by the Federal Gov't. under DOT/NHTSA rules of FMVSS-205. (and since I know I'm right... I don't fell like wasting bandwidth to explain the text of the federal code - Google is your friend.)

Long story shortened. If your state has a seperate set of laws for trucks and one for cars - the xB is a "truck". - which Hawaii does. In Hawaii you can LEGALLY tint an xB as a 35% on the front doors (film & glass combined) and anything behind the B-pillar can be darkened to whatever percentage you choose. (if this were an xA - the law would be 35% on ANY window... but it's not - so you're good.)
