That just keeps you in third gear - won't let the transmission shift into fourth...

all it does is let you rev higher, thus letting you make more power, for just a little bit longer.. it wont hurt the engine per say, the higher the rev, the rougher(is that a word?) it is on the engine..

Depends on your speed, NMxBPB. At freeway speeds I wouldn't want to lock it into third gear - there's really no point. At around-town speeds it will let you stay in a higher rev range so performance is a bit better, but at the expense of slightly poorer mileage and possibly slightly increased engine wear.

As an engineer I look at a simple rule: The harder you stress a mechanical device the greater the chance it will fail.

Probably not even a noticeable difference in wear, but you never know for sure, eh?

Default OD button

If you turn off the overdrive button it kills your gas mileage BIG TIME !!!
not only does it keep it in 3rd. gear it keeps your revs up and allows the VVTI to come into play sooner.... Yes it seems to go faster but at what cost????
Mileage and Engine Wear thats what.................................

Lol, okay, Thanks for all that advice, I knoew that u shouldent do it on the freeway, cause thats like no point.. but I live in a town like a little one, and I like that I go Alittle bit faster in the town, rather than in fourth gear in town, I stay in 3rd, But I usually don't drive my xB, Especially when it snowing, (all that fr'kin salt they poor on the road might chip paint) So I heard... Im gonna stay with the mustang for my speed . . .
