wingsaseagles 01-06-2006, 01:52 PM O.K.
Now who's leaving from where ? and what route ? and what time?
I think I am the only Tucson person going so I would like to meet you guys along the way and Roll wich ya..........................
The shortest route is I-10 to Lordsburg then nothheast on N.M. state route90
The longest route is over Mulecreek pass via Globe/Safford/Morenci aka 70 to 191
to N.M. state route 78 to 180 then into Silver..................
I would like to see everybody roll EARLY Saturday morning but I am the minority here
so whats it gonna be????
wingsaseagles
I was told we would be leaving at 8 AM to arrive around 12. I dont know my Highways so I couldnt really say which way to take or where we can meet up with you. As long as I'm not driving at 5 in the morning I should be ok.
Just remembered I have a box of fireworks including morters, they're legal in NM aren't they? I'll bring em if you guys are up for some fireworks sat night?
Townsend_xB 01-06-2006, 07:27 PM Silver City has a noise ordinance after 8pm, so I would really not reccomend bringing Fireworks. Doing so is at your own discretion. Also I don't know a lot of the guys at GCSO anymore, tehre are a lot of new faces so I really don't recommend anyone drive with underbody lights on.
Just my .02c
so thats how they get away with making Fireworks legal there, they make it so you have to light them off while the sun is still up and make it pointless :-p
RoswellScion 01-06-2006, 08:36 PM We could take a short drive out of town if you really wanted to do fireworks. I'm down for it, and it would give you a chance to get rid of your illegal firework stash. :P
Later.
Steven
Well then I'm bringing them just in case :-D I'd rather get rid of them up there the risk doing it up here and getting a felony or something.
lvnurs9 01-06-2006, 11:28 PM Since we roll through tucson we'll just pick you up along the way. Probably around 10 if we are leaving at 8.
soGone 01-07-2006, 05:45 AM Eastside/ Westside... Were are we doing the roll out.. we are leaving as a jumbo group right??
wingsaseagles 01-07-2006, 12:03 PM Hey
I know Mark (bBCrud) had mentioned that he wanted to take the northern route thru
Mulecreek Pass this will take longer and is a nice scenic cruise after you get past
Morenci up until then it's just desert..........
You guys decide which way and I will meet you on the way
WHOO HOO so far we got 30 Scions signed up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wings
Sharpies_tC 01-07-2006, 05:08 PM Ok - here is my input:
Let's meet at Krispy Kreme at AZ Mills - 10 & Baseline - at 8:00 a.m. SHARP. Please fill up your gas tank before you arrive. Wade, we can call you when we are getting close to Tucson so that you can jump on the freeway and join our parade o' Scions.
Whattya guys think?
that sounds good to me...thats right by the freeways and we could stop in for some donuts real quick before we leave!
that sounds like a great idea, so full tank of gas and potty break for everybody.
bbcrud 01-08-2006, 12:51 PM Ok - here is my input:

I agree. Scenic is nice but we'll get scenery when we get to NM. Let's save the time on the driver and use I-10.
And let's make the 8-AM departure THE TIME. Stragglers can catch up or arrive in Silver City later.
There are some photo op spots along the way (Anyone seen Texas Canyon?) so we don't want to hurry to get there.
Wade, can you figure out a meet-up spot in Tucson?
wingsaseagles 01-08-2006, 01:30 PM O.K.
Here's the deal : It's 200 miles to Silver City from Tucson......So we can meet @ I-10
and Craycroft there is a truck stop there it's the TTT truck stop 'and you all can top off your tanks if needed let's meet on the east side where there is plenty of parking.....
Also I think we should get a Cell Phione list going in case someone need to stop along the way (just a thought) also some of you N.M. peeps should give us your phone
#'s too so we can get ahold of you in Silver.......
If we roll straight to Texas Cyn. it's about an hour then Stop for all you shutterbugs (It is a way cool place) then the run to Lordsburg is about another hour and 10 minutes and we can stop @ Loves truck stop there, then it's about another 1hr. to Silver
From there it's a little tricky to get to N.M. state route 90 if you want me to lead from there I know the way we've only made the trip 100 times before and we can roll all the way to the Holiday Inn check in then Grab som LUNCH (FOOD!!!!!  )The Lottaburger has great green chile cheese burgers!!!!!
wingsaseagles (ph:520-631-0232)
P.S. MTcX I would reccomend you leave your fireworks @ home ther is a really high fire danger in the Gila's and the Rangers would really frown on any boomsticks !!!!If you know what I mean............
rogcjms 01-08-2006, 04:02 PM mmm Lotaburger is good trust me....mmmm im hungry now wings i will PM you and give u my nunber
bbcrud 01-08-2006, 06:46 PM mmm Lotaburger is good trust me....mmmm im hungry now wings i will PM you and give u my nunber
Lotaburger! Very good stuff!
I always stop at Blakes when in NM!
About the Phone List.
Instead of posting them here... let's PM them to one point then share them in an email? I dunno... too much worry?
i just changd my cell number and dont want to list it on the forums again so think the email idea would be good.
RoswellScion 01-08-2006, 07:27 PM Alright, I'll send my phone number via PM to someone but I would definitely like to have a list of everyone's numbers so I can meet up with the group. Of course, it won't be too hard to ask someone, "Hey, you see any boxes rolling in a big group 'round here?"
Later.
Steven
RoswellScion 01-08-2006, 07:43 PM And hey, Ray(aka rogcjms), I found a route through yahoo! maps that would connect us at the I-25 and Highway 380 Junction. I don't know if there are any gas stations there, but I would like to meet up with you all there and ride into town with ya. (lol...yahoo says its a 7 hour and 11 minute trip over 314 miles...make it in less than 5 but damn...meet in the middle my butt AZ people--lol jk)
Check it out. Later.
Steven
*edit--I can't link to the yahoo map...psh ____

Coolness. PM the list to me and I'll get it to the NM people. We can select 3-5 numbers to distribute to the AZ group and the NM people can share their numbers there.
This is coming together nicely. Thanks to Wade, Ray and all others involved!
PS There's only 8 rooms left in the entire hotel.
rogcjms 01-09-2006, 03:19 AM 7 hours??! from where? When i checked from Alb to Silver city it gave me about 4.5 hours. I figure we will have to leave by 8 to make it there about 12. I figure we wont all meet together in the city til about 12-12:30. Is there a route where everyone would be able to cruise into the city? send me a link to the yahoo site that may have a route where we would be all together. that would be so sweet, I've never seen 30+ Scions cruise together, Albuquerque doesnt have that many Scions on the road I dont think lol.
wingsaseagles 01-09-2006, 11:33 AM HEY
Good morning everyone ! If you want to PM me with your cell #'S , I will put a list together and e-mail it to the out of towners and have a handout ready when we meet in Tucson....this will include ph #'s and a map for any who might get left behind...
It normaly takes 3 hr's to get to Silver from Tucson but with the stops I figure It will take about 4 so that put the Az. peeps in Silver about 1 P.M. New Mexico time (remember they are one of those wierd states that changes their time in spring and fall)
We can all meet @ the Holiday Inn parking lot (it's not that big though) or we can meet at the old K-Mart parking lot I think the sign still says STREAM on it (it was a
Microsoft call center last) whatever everyone wants to do is cool by me
As for a cruise if anyone wants too after we all meet and get some chow we can make a short run thru Pinos Altos the "LOOP" a very beautiful scenic drive through the lower Gila's and then a quick run back thru Mimbres Vally past the old Santa Rita Mine and back to Silver..........then it will be close to dinner time..a little rest @ the HO-TEL then chow......After dinner if we want we can CRUISE thru downtown Silver up and down Bullard (An old low rider tradition that still happens every weekend in Silver).
For those of you that like to Party @ night ther are several bars in Silver The Buffalo is one of the oldest bars in Silver and they usually have a live band on Sat nights, there is also the Flame,or the Double Eagle or the Drifter Lounge so if you want to go out Sat. night have a good time !!!!!!!
Sunday A.M. breakfast and then a beautiful cruise to Glenwood and out to the CATWALK for a short hike up the side of the mountian (an easy hike or I would not make it) it was redone not long ago and is very safe and scenic when you get almost to the end ther is a pool of water under a rock great area for photos (water is extremly cold not for swimming this time of year unless you're a polar bear )
Hows taht sound to everybody?????

PHATE75 01-09-2006, 01:50 PM I'm down to meet at Krispy Kreme at 8am
bbcrud 01-09-2006, 03:07 PM Nicely done Wade.
Thank you for all the effort and time you've spent on this.
Thank you for your work Wade
RoswellScion 01-09-2006, 09:08 PM 7 hours??! from where? When i checked from Alb to Silver city it gave me about 4.5 hours. I figure we will have to leave by 8 to make it there about 12. I used MapQuest this time and got better results. I was thinking we could meet in San Antonio(NM) or at the junction of 380 and I-25. It's 315 miles on this route and 6 hours, but at 70 mph its easily 4.5-4.75 hours(for me from Roswell). It's two hours to San Antonio for us and probably 1-1.5 for you all. And, from San Antonio its is 151 miles so roughly two hours from there. If we met in San Antonio at 10:00 we could definitely make it to Silver at 12:30. Let me know what you think. This will be a very scenic drive from Roswell to San Antonio and then to Silver. Should be fun.
Later.

wingsaseagles 01-09-2006, 11:00 PM I hope I hav'nt stepped on any toes kinda takin the lead on most of these things !!!!
Having lived in Silver City I kinda know the area ,and being the "ANAL RETENTIVE CONTROL FREAK"that I am (just ask my wife she'll tell ya) I just wanted to help get it rollin..................
I organized alot of Harley runs when I was Patched , and workin @ the H.D. dealership ,so it kinda come natural.
Soo if I did step on any toe's SORRY cause 300lbs steppin on ya hurts!!!!!
I am PHYSCED (spelling not one of my strong points) that so many peeps are signed up and going ..I am BUMMED that more Tucson peep's did not sign up......but it will be cool hangin with all you northerners from Phx and N.M.
So far I have only gotten a few ph #'s but thats cool we have plenty of time before the run.

Sharpies_tC 01-09-2006, 11:31 PM I hope I hav'nt stepped on any toes kinda takin the lead on most of these things !!!!
Wade - by all means, you are the best person to take the lead. I am sure I speak for all when I say you are WELCOME to lead us!
ScottsdaleTC 01-10-2006, 02:11 AM You’re doing a great job, All I want is a good time, great food, great scenery and lots of places to shoot pictures. I’m trying to find a camera and video mounts for the tC, it is going to be cool to shoot video on the way down.
OK so as far as convenience goes, who all has walkie talkies? I have one 5 mi. range radio myself and I know after talking to some members at this weekends meet some people have extras. I think that the more people that we can get a radio in their hand the better, and the more fun :-D.
bbcrud 01-10-2006, 03:47 AM Walkie talkies are a good idea. Since safety is the first rule we could sure use them.
Wade, we should have a point/lead car and a trailer. Radios in each car. Sound right? Lead car sets the pace (speed) for the entire caravan.
Everyone PM your cell number to Wade. Let's not leave everything till the last minute.
rogcjms 01-10-2006, 04:03 AM roswell i will look in map quest to see where San Antonio is and if it is possible for all of us to meet up there and then drive to Silver City.
wingsaseagles 01-10-2006, 11:18 AM Good Morning
Walkies sounds good, but I thought they were all different frequincies? Are there some that you can set so we will all be able to chat ????
As for the rabbit (lead car) and backdoor (last car) having radios thats a great idea in case one of the rocking chairs (cars in the middle) has to stop or something
I dont have any radios but I will look into some @sportmans whse. this week and see if they have any with multiple freq.
Kelly bring your extra battery packs cause there will be more photo ops than you can shake a stick at............The lower Gila's are @ the begining of the Mogillon range and have some of the most beautiful scenery in the state of N.M., Great food is no problem we'll be in N.M. , and a good time well that goes without saying you'll be hangin with some pretty cool peep's
As for a camera mount maybe you could talk someone into bieng strapped to the top of your TC

Most, last I heard, work off the same basic CB frequencies.
I'll pick up a set @ Best Buy.
when we did the poker run I used mine along with n7's, they genereally go off the same frequency unless you get into the settings like you can on mine and change the fine tuning.
Mine has like 14 channels so as long as we're all on say for example channel 2....we should be able to all talk to each other.

Anyone have the soundtracks to the Smokey & The Bandit movies? :silly:

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run
Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son, never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
and there's beer in Texarkana
We'll bring it back no matter what it takes
Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'

Old Smokey's got them ears on
He's hot on your trail
And he ain't gonna rest 'til you're in jail
So you've got to dodge him, you've got to duck him
You gotta keep that diesel truckin'
Just put that hammer down and give it hell
Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'

wingsaseagles 01-11-2006, 07:57 PM Hey everybody
I picked up a couple of rechargable 2 way radios @ Wally World for $24bucks (cheap)
programable with 22 channels.
I wonder if this might be a better way to go than having a bunch of cell phone #'s floating around ,what do you all think ?????
wings
bbcrud 01-11-2006, 08:09 PM I think we need a radio list for each group, and to share some numbers between the groups. Radios are cool for the formations but, lose a car along the way and they might not be able to radio us.
How many numbers have you been PMd so far?
I don't know about everybody else but I have cricket and my service is only in the phx area so once we get down to say...tucson, my phone won't work anymore. I will definitely be bringing my walkie talkies though

Townsend_xB 01-13-2006, 02:09 AM I just got back from Silver and the old k-mart (Stream) parking lot is blocked off now unfortunately. The guards at the DC said Stream was coming back or something. Temps was about 60 up there today so pretty nice though a little breezy.
Just a friendly reminder for those of you coming from arizona, NM has concealed carry but as of right now they do not accept or recognize anyone out of state permits!
Of course you can still legaly carry in the open here, with the exception of federal/state buildings and places that sell or serve alcohol. Your vehicle is considered an extension of your home in NM so you can conceal the weapon inside the vehicle, but if you get pulled over it would be polite to let the officer know. For those of you coming from Lordsburg to Silver there will be a few signs that say "SAFETY CORRIDOR", this area is state cop heaven, so turn on your lights and watch your speed because fines are doubled there!
I will be getting up there around noon from Deming.. I may or may not get a room since I only live an hour away but I am looking forward to meeting you all.

wingsaseagles 01-13-2006, 11:20 AM I just got back from Silver and the old k-mart (Stream) parking lot is blocked off now unfortunately.
Wings! I pm'd you my cell
Townsend thanks for the recon work , and yes I got your #
I guess we will have to meet @ the Holiday Inn unless you (Towmsend) can think of another meeting place with a big enough parking lot , The Wal Mart is always so busy and the lot gets pretty full......
bbcrud 01-13-2006, 02:41 PM I think we need a radio list for each group, and to share some numbers between the groups. Radios are cool for the formations but, lose a car along the way and they might not be able to radio us.
How many numbers have you been PMd so far?
Yeah you are probably right ,I've only recd 5 #'s so far

P.S. whats up with the website it's been slow all day???

rogcjms 01-14-2006, 12:59 AM hey Comedy sorry there was confusion on the NM SCIONS site. The Silver City Run is the 28th. The date you saw on the site for the 15th was a meeting for NM SCIONS to discuss the trip.
wingsaseagles 01-15-2006, 02:24 PM Good Morming Everyone
Well it's getting closer only 2 more weeks !!!!!
In case anyone needs it the address to Holiday Inn Express is 1103 E. Superior St.
Silver City NM 88061
I still have only recd. 11 phone #'s please dont wait till the last minute to send them to me . I will be out of town (Yuma) on business the whole week prior to the run and will not have time to compile the list if everyone waits till the last...........
I am getting psyched about getting out of town to relax and hang with everybody !!!
I have a map that I will have printed up for everyone and a phone list to hand out @ TTT truck stop
I posted that some of the Tucson peep's will be meeting for breakfast @ 8 A.M. anyone from Phx is welcome to join us too !!!!!
wingsaseagles
rogcjms 01-15-2006, 08:54 PM alright, NM SCIONS will be leaving Albuquerque @ 8AM. We will be stopping in San Antonio, NM to meet up with the people from Roswell, then we will be heading into Silver City. We should get there about 12-12:30pm. I think the meet point for everyone should be the Holiday Inn Express, just because everyone has to check in anyway.
Wings...I believe your going to be the leader for the AZ side? If so you should PM me your # also just in case, and whoever else wants to give their # to me that would be cool. Can't wait to meet everyone!
Sharpies_tC 01-16-2006, 08:18 PM Hello all!
I know I speak for most of you when I say I am sooo excited for this trip!
Some of us thought it would be fun to stay in on Saturday night (the 28th) and have a pajama party at the Holiday Inn. Pajamas are optional, clothing is required. Please keep your PJs PG rated (JANICE, this means you!). BYOB and get ready to have a good time. If anyone wants to bring a poker set, some of you may win back some of the money you are gonna lose at Chad's this weekend.
Thanks again to all of you - especially Wade - who are working to make this event a great time.

Clone1 01-18-2006, 10:01 PM Hi everyone,
I know the Tucson folks plan on meeting at 8 but the Phoenix group won't be here until 9 or 9:30. I propose we all meet in Tucson between 9 and 9:30 for breakfast and Precision Scion will take care of the tab. After that we can roll out together and still be in Silver City before 1pm. What does everyone think?

Sounds great Juan , I dont know what the rest of the group wants to do But the NM folks are expecting us @about 12:30 or 1:00 and that would put us in Silver about 2:00 or 2:30 cause the group wants to stop at Texas Canyon for a photo shoot
wings
So whats everyone want to do ?????
rogcjms 01-19-2006, 02:12 AM if you guys are gonna stop for a photo shoot, then we can change the meet time. I think we need to figure out what time we will all be in Silver City. NM SCIONS can be in Silver City really any time. I just dont want to get there too late. I will also be checking the weather forcast to see what it will be like in Silver City, hopefully sunny and warm. Let me know
RoswellScion 01-19-2006, 02:39 PM I'd be more than glad to push back the ETA to 1. It would allow us to leave 30 minutes later, or we could use it to take pictures in the mountains on the way there just like the AZ people are talking about. I am down with whatever.

Will you all be rollin out exactly @8:00 AM?? or is the 8:00 AM the meet time cause you and I both know someone will be late !!!!!
Cause if you guys run late then we stop @ Precision for Breakfast , then stop @ Texas Cyn, I figure we'll roll into Silver about 2:30 or 3:00 what do you think????
RoswellScion 01-20-2006, 12:50 AM 2:30 or 3:00 sounds kind of late...how long will our cruise take? check-in? what time will dinner take place?
I think we'd have to leave Roswell about 9 or 9:30 to make it there with a photoshoot by 2:30...seems a lil late to leave for me, but i will be up for pretty much anything. We could also grab a lil lunch at the Owl Cafe in San Antonio around like 11 or whatever then go to Silver...The Owl Cafe has the BEST Owl Burger in NM(it really isn't owl meat!!) Just let me know as soon as possible so Karl and I can plan accordingly(btw, he signed up today on Scionetics).
Later,
Steven
rogcjms 01-20-2006, 01:32 AM I think 2:30-3:00 is too late. I think 1:00-1:30 sounds better. I figure if you guys are going to eat and do a photo shoot maybe leave a little earlier. I figure NM SCIONS can leave Albuquerque at 9am and probably get into Silver City @ 1pm. We could also stop in San Antonio and eat at the original Owl Cafe whenever we get there, and have a photo shoot there, and still get into Silver City @ 1pm.
So does 1:00-1:30pm sound good???

Clone1 01-20-2006, 07:36 PM We won't actually be eating at Precision. We'll be at a restaurant like El Indio, but Precision will take care of the bill.
lvnurs9 01-20-2006, 08:35 PM I think that we need to be on the road by 8am. Meaning everyone from the Phoenix area should meet at Krispie Kreme by 730am. This way we can sort out the drive and such. We should be able to meet you all in Tucson by 915am you think? (I have only driven there once..that and dont know where this exit is). If we can leave Tucson no later then 945am we will have 3h45m to get there and take pics along the way by 130pm. Then we can meet up with everyone and do whatever. I am sure we cant check in until 3 anyways. I have no idea what is along the way or whatever...but I'd like to see all we can see....
Just my 2 cents...like I said I have never been so Im not sure what I'm in for :P but I think that leaving at 8am and not getting there till 3pm is discouraging as that is a 7 hour drive :)

If we stop and do breakfast in Tucson that is correct , however if we go with the original plan stopping @ Texas Cyn. for Pics ,we will be in Silver @ approx 1:00 P.M. New Mexico time
wings
lvnurs9 01-21-2006, 04:04 PM I'm confused...according to mapquest...Silver City is almost 5 hours away from Phoenix....I know those times arent very accurate but considering we are caravaning...its gonna be about that long...so ANY stops along the way and that pushes us past 1pm. Just stopping to pick you guys up in Tuscon will take at least 20 minutes. Pictures? I'd say about an hour.
I say we enjoy this trip and not feel like we're in a rush. I doubt we'll be able to check in before 3 as well so might as well take advantage of what we're doing.

Map Quest is pretty much on the money time wise : Silver City is about 3 hrs. from Tucson with one pee stop in Lordsburg so if we stop@ Texas Cyn for pics figure 4 hrs. then we lose an hour going into NM so it will be an hour earlier .......

2:00PM. AZ. time

rogcjms 01-21-2006, 07:06 PM I believe the check in time for Holiday Inn is 12:00pm, and I believe thats the same check out time. It will give everyone good enough time to get there.
