Default Knocking and Grinding coming out of l/f strut

In the morning....when its cold....40ish.....whenever i drive over bumps, my front left strut makes an annoying knocking and grinding sound. Though both wheels are going over the same crack/dip/curb.....only my front left makes this noise. It feels like its "disconnected" and if there was soemthing loose. A visual inspection doesnt reveal any leaking fluids or any other obvious things. I rigorously checked the ball joints on both sides...which are both super tight.

Anyone familiar with the symptoms a strut will make when its on its way out.....this tc has about 30,000 miles one it .......this should be pretty early for a strut to go, but heck.....it CAN happen! any help would be appreciated!

P.S. this isnt just a sound..but a noticable jolt in the strut.

Do you have any aftermarket shocks/springs? Are you running a strut brace? The upper mounting nuts may be loose..maybe they didnt get tightened enough when the new springs were installed or when a strut brace was added.

tighten the upper strut bolts, if you don't have a strut bar, it should be about 39ft/lbs, if you do, it should be bumped up to around 43-45ft/lbs, but it's just metal-to-metal bolts so the torque isn't critical, just make sure it's tight.
