Default what gauge is stock tC speaker wire?

Can someone tell me what gauge speaker wire comes stock and what gauge I should upgrade to.... I was thinking 16gauge wire. If you were to replace the speaker wire with the same size as stock....would this benefit the system in any way? (im not planning on doing this but was wondering if the same gauge wire as stock would be better or not).

i believe.. the gauge is the same. 16 or maybe 18. i have installed my 4ch amp ... i have no problem at all with the speaker wire.. i'm only runnin about 50watts rms. but if u gonna go bigger.... louder.. than yes.... rewire all speakers from amps to behind the speaker..... thats the right way. but.. the existing speaker wire is efficient.

your pushing 50x4 w/ the stock wire w/o a problem?

I was thinking 18 or 20 for the stock wiring... If you're going to get an external amp for speakers, you should have all new wire ran....

is 16gauge too close to 18? I know some to 12-14 ....but is that needed? I might put my 35x4 amp into my car and dont know if its worth running new wires - im not looking for loudness ...im looking for quality.

go with the 18gauge. its enough for slightly upgraded and stock wiring.

i totally agree... my alpine 4ch amp.. its small powerful and great on quality.... im not pushing no more than half gain..... but regardless... the factory speaker gauge is 18. and its more than enough..... 18 gauge can handle up too 60watts with no over heating.... unless with really really long durations..... but i personally perfer 16gauge shielded for xtra protection of wire overheatin... but i'm not tooo worry about that now...

so im going to guess that an aftermarket wire would be shielded and better quality then the stock (you would assume this w/ anything aftermarker). I bought 16gauge but I dont know if I want to put my amp in my car. I honestly forgot that I have a hatch and cant mount it on the top of my trunk (so its out of the way).

well i have both my amps set next to the spare tired with the factory foam pouch thingy.... and added a underneath cooling fan system..... my amps aren't turn up alot... so they dont over heat.... i need to get a camera and show some you guys......

but yes.... 16 gauge is more than enough. we used tsunami shielded 16 gauge to power up are bests amps. INFINITY (112x4 watts rms) our kicker (120x4 watts rms) but never past half gain.... more than enough wire to handle the power. the only problem i have with shield wire... its gets bulky... 4 pairs of speaker wire ran on the side of the car along with 4ch and 2 ch RCA's... does get bulky..... and power cable and remote turn on the opposite side of the car to prevent alternator whine (engine noise). so yeah... lets us know how ur project is goin.... good thing the tC has nice space for all of that on the sides.....

sounds like a nice setup. are you saying that you put your amp under by the spare tire but on the side? ....or ontop? The best spot sounds like it would be drilled to the back seat so its out of the way. What do ya think?

this is prob a dumb thing to ask but ..... its ok to put amps down there? there is no risk of fire? I wonder if that foam is fireproof.

well.. my amps dont overheat at all... but. i should of taken the pics underneath them.... ummm i have a electrical fan coolin system. but if i decide to change amps later on.. a fiber glass amp rack will go there... but until now. i will spray on a dampering coat into the foam... to make it a bit more heat resistant and fireproof. :o]
