Problems with HU. Anyone else???
I've had a few issues with my stock head unit and am wondering if this is a common thing. If not, I will likely try to get a replacement under warranty. There's only a couple problems, but they are pretty annoying.
First, occasionaly when I play MP3's, the system will play only the beginning of the song. It will arbitrarily skip to the next song. This doesn't happen every time, but often enough.
Also, I have issues with the tuner. The unit will drop its current frequency. I will tune down or up by 0.2 MHz(or kHz or whatever radio is broadcast at) all by itself. Again, this doesn't happen under any specific circumstances, but happens often enough to be a problem.
These are seemingly minor flaws, but they happen often enough to not be random occurrences. Has anyone else experienced these same events? Is a replacement a possibility from warrenty? It would be difficult to reproduce the problems to a technician because of the seemingly random occurrence of the problems.

Do you have a 2006 tC? Are you possibly hitting any of the steering wheel controls and just not noticing?
You could easily be pressing the skip button to skip to the next MP3. Or even on the radio, it may also be tuning from the steering wheel controls - though I don't have a 2006 and not sure if the radio does that.

I do have a 2006. Yes I am aware of the steering weel controls. However, that is simply not the case. First, when the tune button is pressed the tuner goes to the next preset, not the next frequency.
I cannot use the same argument for the CD playback except that I have not noticed it with CD's. I've only noticed it happen with MP3's, and that it has occurred multiple times with mp3's and I actually listen to CD's more often and have not seen the problem.

I don't think the problem is the head unit.
Mp3 CD's need to be finalized (closed). Open or multi-session CD's will do really screwy things when played in most HU's.
Make a duplicate CD that's closed and give it a try.

You arent the only one. I have heard of others. I have a problem of I will adjust the volume with the **** and it will skip a track instead. So instead I use the steering wheel to adjust volume.
You are not alone, and now I don't feel like I'm going nuts. My 06 HU does both of those.. Very randomly it will change the radio frequency (just barely) and even rarer an MP3 will play partically and then skip to the next file.
