K&N Intake install on 2004 XA
For X-mas I bought a K&N Cold-Air Typhoon Intake System for my girlfriends 04 XA. I work some crazy hours, and I am just now getting around to installing it. I was reading the reviews, and the actual instructions for the intake. It really doesn’t seem to complicated, but this will be my first import vehicle that I have ever worked on (I usually stick to American). Well, My actual question; Is there a more "readers digest" version of the install, or more less from an experienced person who has done that particular intake on an XA? I have heard from her car club pals that there is an easier way to do it other than doing it by the instructions from the box. The instructions from the box mention cutting things, and several other odd things. I know its not too difficult, but I really need to do it this coming up Monday 2-13-06, and I don’t want to let her down by messing up her XA. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.... crash...
Hmm... there might be some tips here:

It's for an xB, but it still might help a little.

Come up to Mobile, AL for the Palmer's Scion meet! There will be tons of good people there! And I'm sure with all of those Scion-ers there, you can put it in and have a beer all before registration is over.
I did mine in 45 minutes on Christmas day. And the part about trimming the battery tray might not apply. Dry fit first to see if you need to.
But RD version....
10mm socket and 2 long extensions and a long flat blade screwdriver are the main tools needed.
If you want to pm me and I can give you any help possible in this form.
Hint.. pop the tow hook cover and use long screwdriver to tighten the filter...it lines right up!
