4 those of you who painted your dash, is there a bad glare ?
I have taken my dash off for paint. I already have a few accent pieces painted. I would like to go with a gloss red for the entire top dash piece. I was wondering though....if the reflection glare on sunny days is going to be too much. I know some of you guys have painted your dash....so how is it?

Don't use gloss. Instead, go with a semi-gloss. Krylon Fusion is your friend. I do have a friend of mine who went gloss, but he has a completely custom dash in a neon no less. The gloss paint is a cream color which compliments the sued leather interior and wood trim... in a neon no less. I wouldn't do what he did, but it's show quality work and anything less I would stick with semi-gloss over gloss. If you can't find the color you want in semi gloss, use some flat clear coat to take the edge off the sheen.
Gloss is just too much glare... it's like driving into the sunlight or looking directly at another car who refuses to turn off their brights.

I do get a bit of reflection in the glass. I did the center cluster in red and can see it more in the glass. Unsure how the whole dash would look. The red Duplicolor is not real shinny so it shouldn't be a problem. It almost matches the TRD wheel also.
I've decided to go with my body color, a gloss black. It is the safe way to do it since I've already had one car with a gloss black dash top and there really was no reflection problem. My car is no show car, just a driver I like to have fun with, and I don't want to be annoyed with a bright red glare in everyday summer driving.
Thanks again for the tips

It is the entire top portion of the dash. The top piece from the windshield to the air vents is one piece....I think my body color of gloss black with the red speedometer and middle console will complement each other the best....
My entire Dash is painted, not Krylon, Base coat/clear coat. I have no issue with glare from the dash, but the color does reflect on the dash. Enough to notice, some may think its annoying, I knew it was coming so I wasn't dissapointed.
This is a good question. I will be painting my upper dash piece, door panels, and rear panels all TCM to match the exterior color. Im sure I will have tons of glare but hey thats the price of driving a show car everyday...
