Hi All,

I am thinking of getting an 05 xA soon. The stock colors are ok but I think I want soemthing a bit more dramatic. I wonder if anyone can give me a ballpark figure for what soemthign like that would cost. I have seen those MAACO ads for 250 for apaint job but just don't think they are gonna be what I want. I was thinking a nice one color or a 2 tone look. Any ideas/expereicnes from those out there?

Oh yeah I have heard about that rumour  But I have also heard it will have soem extras, like the hot lava did, I am not sure I want. Supposed to have interior light I could do without. What I am tryign to figure out which will be cheaper that xA or getting a stock xA and putting my color on it.

Depending on the Paint & the Shop, it could go either way.

IMO, Don't go to anyplace like Maaco, go to a couple of Custom BodyShop, have them show you a portfoilo of work, then decide which one does the best work.

Good luck with it, & PPYP.

Macco paint jobs are cheap and are ____ ... if you want a real paint job you need to get the door jams painted, trunk jams, engine bay and so on ... a real good paint job will run you a thousand and up depening on how carried away with it you get. Just call up the local body shops and see how does custom paint, how much and if they have pics of their work!

depends on what you want painted. if you want the engine bay painted also it will run about 1500-2500 and with out pulling the engine it would run about 900-1400. you get what you pay for when it comes to paint.

As mentioned above, alot of contributing factors:

- Engine bay painted or not
- Door Sils painted or not
- Factory overspray painted or not
- Quality of prep
- Brand of paint
- Cost per dollar of Labor

If you do prep and paint yourself, it will only cost about $350 for a House of Kolor paint job. I know, i've helped about 15 people do it, and some of them are running 5 year old paint jobs now, still perfect.

How much would it cost just to have the silver bits inside painted to match Thundercloud? I've got an idea....

also consider the cost of paint...

my paint was expensive so i couldnt afford to do everything else i wanted to do all at once... when i finish moving in my apartment, ill paint the door jambs and ____ myself.

There's a hot lava with ghost flames, and the Southeast gets the option of a black roof. So you wouldn't be the only rs1 with a different paint scheme.

JediYoda56, I just noticed you're in the ATL. There's a place up in Alpharetta named "master's touch collision". They do good work, and just finished a widebody lexus IS300. Also, there's a place in Roswell called "Classic Collision", they also do good work. Go to either if you want a real world estimate for a color change.

My brother had his civic hatch painted by a great shop for about 2500 but then again the motor was out of it and ut was just a shell basically at the time. To meet or exceed the stock paint expect to pay alot of money!

Even if a paint shop does GREAT work (after you've gone to a few and looked at the portfolio...usually a wall of their best paintjobs http://www.scionlife.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) that doesn't mean it will be the place for you. When you go to check out shops right now, keep an eye on what cars are there NOW. The when you make a decision like in 2-3 months, check to see if those same cars are there. Even though they do crazy work, you won't want to deal with the downtime.

For my 91 taurus lowrider, I was promised a 3 tone candy paintjob in under a month. My car was there for 3 months and the day I picked up my car, I noticed some of the same cars as when I dropped it off.

ya i agree dont get maaco. i got a $500 car from my grandparents. (an escort) the maaco paint job advertised is sh*t. as mentioned above u dont get door jams, under the hood, or n e where but the outside. what u see gets shot with paint  it wasnt good . i went to pick my car up (i spent 500 on the paint job there) and there was nicks outta the paint. i asked what was up and they stated "we paint it once and if it soaks into a hole its not our problem." jus a bad expierence. go to a professional, pay more and get it done right....... jus my 2 cents
