Default Redline Quicklift & LED Install Help

Ok so I'm admittedly a newbie to modifying cars- just putting seat covers on and installing LED dome lights made me feel like a badass. I want to get a Redline Tuning QuickLIFT for my tC in the next two months or so, and might even want to do some interior lighting... but there are two problems

QuickLIFT- I don't own a rivet gun, nor any of the drill bits specified for the install.
LEDs- I know jack ---- about interior electrical wiring of cars.

That isn't to say that I don't want to learn- and i'm a quick study. But i'd like to go through some of this stuff with someone more experienced.

I can buy pizza or beer (or both), or perhaps get you some comp tickets to the show i stage manage (FROGZ with Imago Theatre- great for kids as well as adults).

I don't have the components or the $$ yet for these installs, but i'm trying to plan ahead (my schedule tends to get kinda crazy). Let me know if anybody's interested in helping. Thanks!!!

Hey that would be great... i've also been browsing the forums here and seen some cool painted engine covers- i bet i could afford that like this weekend or something (unless i'm missing something).

The quicklift is a replacement for your OEM hood prop rod- it's gas powered so you pull the hood halfway up, let go and the quicklift takes over, opening the hood all the way. I think it would be great for shows and such. Check it out here http://www.redlinetuning.com/products_quicklift.html.

I'll definitely take you up on your offer to help out! And if there's ever anything i can do to help others, i'd be happy to.

We can help you out for sure... I've done the quicklift and have all the tools we'd need... I've also wired and done the footwell lighting and dome lighting, so we're good to go there... meet us at one of the meet and greets and we'll get it all set up!

He didn't put it in.... it was pre-installed... but, he does have it... needs to keyword REDLINE and it'd be easier to peg... I had to think about for a sec to understand...

Not sure what color yet- my scion is SW and i'm thinking blue lights for the interior... want to stick with the white blue but don't know what would look good on the engine cover. Will you be at KK on sat? We can discuss then.

qestion? if you install two quicklifts would that double the strength causing the hood to lift from a lower angle, like say 10 degrees from closed?

I can't say for sure but, no. The reason the quicklift works is because at a certain angle the pressure from the lift is moving upwards. As you close the hood, eventually the pressure from the lift is going parallel to the ground- i.e. not going to move the hood up. I think adding another one might make your hood go up FASTER but i'm not sure if it would go up any SOONER... please correct me if i'm wrong.

well tim only has one arm and his hood opens up super fast...like it bounces when it hits the top...i dont know why..the only thing i can think of is his life is upside down compaired to mine...like reversed....but im not sure.

The only thing I could think of would be the weight of the actual arm... if it's lighter on one end, you put the lighter end at the top and maximize the force. But the downside certainly is that your hood might snap right off hahaha...

but he won't have that problem once he gets his automatic-servo-remote-reverse hood opener finished.
