View Full Version : The HEAT is on!!!
Super_TC 05-19-2006, 12:58 AM All us desert dwellers are feeling the triple digit temperatures by now I am sure...
Anyone else agree with me that the A/C blower motor in the TC sucks?
Is there a way anyone knows of speeding it up or upgrading it???

.. Tint the windows.. find a shadey spot to park it in.
LOL I would not call it a tC thing but more of a Arizona thing.
i had a TSB done on mine that if you haven't had done will make a difference. Story is that the door that moves for turning on the heat to the ac doesn't close all the way, so if you take it in and mention that to them it should close all the way so no heat gets in. The other TSB is that i guess it comes overcharged on the freon from the factory so that different ration makes it not as cold, if you tell them to do the TSB they supposedly drain the freon, and refill it to spec and I noticed a difference on it getting colder and cold fastrer.
Super_TC 05-19-2006, 01:07 AM LOL
Yea check and check done both
What it comes down to is the MAX a/c in the TC sucks
The fan is WEAK
Just wondering if anybody has come up with a mod for it yet...
DaveRav 05-19-2006, 01:14 AM Man, I was wondering about the a/c. I live in the NE US so I can only imagine the ____ you are going thru.
And I was talking to a friend about moving out there, hmm...doh!
Garage1217 05-19-2006, 01:56 AM The all glass roof is our killer. Shut the shades and tint the windows and it feels like any other cars ac. Mine is working perfectly!
RockBlocker 05-19-2006, 02:23 AM Just leave the tC parked and it will be just fine, LOL
BlkSandPrlTurbotC 05-19-2006, 02:29 AM if anyone needs their A/C systems worked on, IE charged w/ more refrig
let me know, I can take your car to my school and get it done for you. my a/c blasts out a temp of 28 degrees on half speed on the fan and the a/c on and recirc on
Super_TC 05-19-2006, 03:10 AM The temp of the air is just fine in my TC....
My bellyaching is all about the wussy fan speed when on "MAX" compared to other cars I have had in the past and my buddys cars.... lol
Anyway I guess that is a no that nobody has modded the A/C blower motor
Garage1217 05-19-2006, 03:51 AM My subaru with all vents shut except the center vents, fan on high and on resirc could darn near blow a 1/2full cup of water out of the holder and alsowould blow chicks hair around in the back seat if they sat in the middle, it was insane! Man I miss that car allot.
Shocker 05-19-2006, 06:37 AM i think the ac is weak as well compared to other vehicles

is it possible to over fill with more refrig? I had the TSB done and it made a diff. but I would like colder if possible.

Yes it is very possible to over fill your system w/ R-134a. Mine when I did it at school it started blowing at 38 degrees, it wasnt bad, but I was amazed by the difference afer I did a full out service repair on the a/c system
BlkSandPrlTurbotC 05-19-2006, 07:06 AM I'm auctally awaiting on my 609 card as I speak. They said we would know our results in 2 wks after we took the test. If I past I will be 609 certified for the rest of my life...
which will be nice

could you explain what a full out service repair of the ac system consists of. ie. what did you have done.

Full System Repair:
Attached the R-134a hoses to their corressponding service ports on the a/c system. One on the low side, one on the high side. You then tell the machine to read exactly how much Refrig is in the system, how much air, etc is in it. Once that process is done, you then see how much Refrig (R-134a) you have then you check your specs on how much our a/c system can hold. X lbs x Oz. Cant remember the exact specs.
Once that is figured out, your program the machine to where it takes about 1 hr (ususally the best) to add the exact amount of R-134a you typed into the machine to put in.
After you have recharged the system, you then take a therometer, stick it in your center vent, crank the fan, put the system on A/C and on RECIRC mode and let it run for 5 mintues. After 5 mins, you record the reading. They should be lower than your original recording. If they are, you did it correctly.
It is also illegal to VENT R-12 and R-134a into the atmosphere. If the EPA found out you did, they will be all over your arse with fines.
Normally it takes a dealership 1-2 hours to do a system re-charge/recovery.
