Rear ended, repair costs??
So I got rear ended the other day and the guy took off in his van. (White chevy work van, IL plates: "853 5221". Plates came back registered to a Honda. If any of you are in chicago area and see this plate please let me or the cops know) I chased his ___ for like 5 min. but the cops said not to. So I stopped. My car was dirty and couldn't see any damage. But the next day I got my tC washed and the bumper was all scratched and dug into and stuff. Well the guy hit pretty solidly so I'm worried it messed up the strutural supports or possibly something else internally. (like boxers looking fine but their brains are like mush)
So what I'm wondering is if anyone else has had a fenderbender or accident and how much it usually costs to repair/replace the bumper or if you've had any other problems arise after the accident (internal damage). So I can gauge how much to approximate on my police report.

It really depends. I would call ur insurance company have them give you a quote, and then go to another shop or too and get quotes.
I got rear ended in my Toyo92 camry and ended up with about 650 in damages. Got hit by a truck too.

funny i got rear ended today by a taurus. and the bodyshop quoted me 650 for a new bumper.
if your curious about any new damage check under the spare and see if anything looks bent or is seals are broken.

That's about right.
When I got rear-ended, it cost the other driver around 600-700 bucks.
However, if you go through a reasonable body shop, non-insurance (out of pocket) repairs are usually less.

i got rear ended recently too. went to 3 different body shops... the new plastic bumper itself is around 500-600 (replaced). if the absorber and the metal plate are damaged on the inside, then it can get up to around 1000.
Ouch^^
Mine was on a parking lot that was solid ice. Downhill slope waiting at the exit. Guy behind me started sliding and I didnt have time to move, since a car was going by on the road. He was really appologetic and nice about it. His comment was "tC, thats pretty much a BRAND new car isnt it?"
this was in Jan 05 and I had only had it about 4 months. He felt terrible. So luckilly mine was cool about it. Hit and runs are the worst.
