Depends what you expect out of it, it would not be as good as getting a new deck with rca outs but it would work just fine,

if you spent that money on an aftermarket system, you'd get something a lot better.

It all depends on what you want personally... :D

I went aftermarket because I wanted a much stronger and louder system, but if you are looking for it as an accent to the stock stereo and speakers, it will do its job just fine...

Yea umm let me chime in my question about the bazookas....

1. Can u connect a RS sub to a F.A.S.T. harness???

2. Can you guy help me build a good add on (via line output conv.) system with 500 dollars, from sounddomain or Crutchfield????

Yes I believe if you buy the -HP version you can but the FAST harness won't have the additional connectors to power the Remote system. The RS stands for Remote system!!! You can take an EL and make it an RS by purchasing the remote unit.

I don't know how much you all know about the Bazooka add on so let me throw in some of the things I know.

If this has been hashed out before then my appologies upfront.

The bazooka system that you get as an option works off of a High Pass system. For some of those old enough to remember the whole system is based on the same technology as a Booster. Like the things that Radio Shack used to sell way back when BEFORE decks started using RCA outs and then hooking them up to AMPS.

Some boosters used to be combo items. Like a 300 watt booster with a 10 band EQ. These boosters used to bolt on somewhere under the dash or you used to cut open the dash to make room (like a double din).

High Pass boosting works off of the same channel as the speakers...or in this case Scion uses a special harness that plugs into the back of the deck or connects to the speaker channels of the deck splitting them.

The Bazooka Tube that you are purchasing from Scion is an AMPLIFIED EL model. The AMP is pre-installed into the tube and is basically as I said "a signal Booster". Not really an AMP like what you would buy from Orion/Rockford/Pioneer and so on.

This is the SAS Bazooka website and the type of speaker you will get with the upgrade option. You will notice the -HP on the part numbers after all the models under the AMPLIFIED TUBE SECTION this means HIGH PASS.

http://www.sasbazooka.com/productAutoAmplifiedBTsEL.asp

You will notice the the AMP is the same for all the different sizes...100 watts...I believe the one you get with the Scion is the 8 inch model for $299.00...with install it ends up being around $450.00

Here is the type of harness you are going to get from Scion...it is the F-A-S-T system used to hook up a tube from STOCK stereos without RCA outs. So it is a HIGH PASS system.

http://www.sasbazooka.com/productAutoAccessories.asp

Okay...I am going to go out on a limb here and make an overall generalization...HIGH PASS systems have consistently had a higher distortion rating/level than an AMP system.

Also the last thing here...the Bazooka tube is a ported system. Ported systems usually have a "sloppier" bass sound...because the sound is loose...or rolling. So for hard hitting rock and roll where you want tight SNARE drum "snap" sound...the bazooka tube is not for you.

If you want deep "Baby got Back" rolling bass then the bazooka tube is the way to go.

Also remember, you're not going to get "Down the block" loud bass from ONE 8" speaker...in order to do that you need to go to 3-4 15's in the trunk.

So basically you need to decide what you expect for your $450.00 install. If it is simply just good bass to cruise back and forth to work, up and down the 405 freeway or to cruise around with your girl (or guy for the ladies) listening to Luther V then get a bazooka. If you want your friends to need dental work...then buy a good deck, RCA this to 3-4 Amps, then set up 3-4 15's...but your not going to do this with only $450.00 in your pocket...your looking at almost $2000.00.

Hope this helped.
