Hello to all in this forum! I'm planning to move my battery to the back (it will be a dry cell Optima) and I'm concerned about warranty (its a brand new 06.5 Box). Since it is a main part of electical system I worry about everything that may be potentially voided : airbags, ECM, computer controlled trans. Please help as all the cars that I've done this on were not new.

something like that is diff. at every dealer. some are ___ and some are cool with things like that. i would say keep the optima up front!

Why are you doing this, where will you put the battery and how will you mount it?

If you successfully extend all the battery cabling back to the new battery, including whatever is in that red terminal box, the electrical system should not be able to tell that anything had changed, unless the extra distance causes a voltage drop. But if there is ever any problem with the electrical system, the burden may be on you to prove that it is not related to your modification. I would ask the dealer what effect such a relocation might have on the warranty, before proceeding.

make it so where you can easily reverse it if you visit the dealer and pass it off as heavy gauge speaker wire

OK, thats pretty much how i do mods like this: reversable without permanent damage to the car. I've allready ran 4 gauge wire through factory grommet and it looks like amp power supply cable. When i am done putting the bat , i will post pics (3 weeks or so)
Reasons: Need space for next mod
Transferring weight from the front ( and its pretty high too )
Heat kills, remember?
To be different. Isn't that why most of the people are here?
I've done this on 2 cars before. Never had any trouble. Last car was in use for 7 years with this mod with same battery.
And i am ASE cert in electrical, advanced engine performance etc.

I agree with the to be different, I can't see any practical reason to do it, you're just taking away space in the rear. Unless you need the space under the hood for a 2ZZ-GE swap :o

Project is complete! Will show it off at SummerFest in Santa Monica this Sunday and post pics after. Taking 35 lbs from the front of the car made a difference in handling.
