Default Turbo for Hearing Impaired people?

I have a friend who also has a tC and he is hearing impaired, which means he uses hearing aids. Anyway, I was wondering if you guys recommend him turboing it, which is what he wants to do. But, I told him supercharging it might be better. So, what you guys think?

I wondered the same thing.... Maybe it's the blow off sound he is worried about ??? Maybe he thinks the high pitch sound from the B.O. will affect the hearing aide??

If you go FI wether it's S/C or T/C its more for the power output of the car of course every one loves hearing the engines Psssh in a T/C or the whistle in S/C but the principal reason is power output. Of course the sound is priceless when an Evo or STI are reading your liscence plate and your engine goes Psssh

Anyways his money, his car !! the most important thing is that he enjoys it!!

welp if the high pitched whining noises dont bother him go for it, there is way more to the turbo than the sounds....mainly the speed. and sense hes not feeling impared, i think he would still enjoy it greatly.

Well, like, I know for a fact that a variation in sound could mean bad things for it. And I'm afraid he won't be able to notice and he'll end up messing it up, costing him big bux. I can't be there for him everytime. He's not DEAF, he can talk, have conversations, ya know? He's just not good at noticing differences in high pitch, etc. And I know turbos have more maintenance than the superchargers, and he's a newb at this, I am also, but not as much as him. So, just don't want him to have bad luck with this.

Yes it is important to hear whats going on with a turbo setup. Go for the S/C and keep warranty.

thats why it was suggested...so the spooling sound from the turbo doesnt interfere with the hearing aids

Yea, all you hear from the S/C is a whine/whistle noise at idle...other than that when your on the throttle you dont actually hear it.

I am a hearing specialist and work with hearing aids all day long the high pitch sound should not be a problem if you want pm with the make model of his hearing aids and there may be some features on them hey may want to turn off or on of course it also depends on the hearing loss and what kind of hearing aids he has. turbo or s/c either way shouldnt make a difference with hearing aids

if you think he might not be able to notice new sounds that could be signs of engine failure .... i would says the s/c has less to worry about and he will have a warranty if issues come up. Also - he could get an oil pressure and maybe another gauge so he can visually see a few major players in car malfunction.
