So I have been patiently waiting for my xA. I already sold my car and everything, so I'm on foot until it comes in. But, one of the main reasons I wanted the xA is because it was unique, and you didnt see a lot of them. However, in the past two days I have seen THREE of them. That kind of made me mad...I wanted to be the first one here...I guess I cant be mad at them though, at least their in "the family" now. I just cant wait until I get mine. Talked to the dealer on Friday, he said it was due in on Thursday...hopefully he isnt lying to me...

I live in Houston and I see xA's around, but not alot of them. I was driving all over town today going to numerous stores and I saw one IIP xA. The most I ever saw was at IKEA. I saw 3 xA's in the IKEA parking lot. Since I hate IKEA, that is kind of worrisome. :)

Huntsville is a college town (Sam Houston State), so I'd guess you'd see an above average amount, but I'd bet they are still rare.

Ya. I go to school there, I know one of them was a student driving it, and the other two were zooming around campus...I figured it would be a nice college kid car, but I aint seen none here yet...Of course, more people are moving here being that school starts on Monday.

I saw 3 on the way home from work Friday in a span of about 30 miles of Interstate. Not many white ones around, mostly silver and flint mica. I had to drive 40 miles south to Charlotte just to test drive one and bought the first and only one I drove, they had 5 in stock 1 white, 2 blues and 2 flints. Mine was the only one with the iPod compatible stereo and I wanted white.

The only ones I could find were used, so I had to wait for a new one. They had a black one that they were trying to sell as "NEW" but it had 4,000 miles on it...we were going to try to get that knocked down in price, but we decided not to...and just go with new...

Its still due Thursday.

I live in the Chicago area and "ordered" my xA two weeks ago. Since that time, I've seen only three on the road, and believe me, I've been keeping my eyes open for them.

The salesman called me Thursday to say that they've located my vehicle and that it should arrive in three weeks! Let's hope so. Hope yours arrives soon!

I pulled up behind a PW one the other day at an intersection and after honking my horn half a dozen times and pointing at my own car they finally realized that I was talking about the car and waved. Then of course I had to pull up along side them at the next intersecion and drag race that slushbox. Hah, I won.

I hope I get mine too. I'm sick and tired of waiting and I mean there are more than just a few dealers around my city yet my sister and mom is just killing my ___ with the whole "next week we go" and they say this every damn week. I'm sick and tired of not having a car over summer to do all the stuff I like. I hate driving my mom's car so much and I feel like none of my family is really meeting me half way in to this. I NEED A CAR FOR WORK!!!! I'm really sick and tired of this.

Just found out that the car wont come until "probably" the end of the month.
We asked if it would be here on the 24th like he said and he was like, "Well, maybe, we dont really know." I'm thinking to myself, "The 24th is the day after tomorrow, how could you not know?" I dunno. Its surprising. You can ship a package and figure out where its at. But they cant seem to figure out where a car is. I mean, its a small car, but it aint that small!!

Shouldnt they have a better system of tracking and such?

mattmcl
08-22-2006, 10:41 PM
They can tell you exactly where that car is, you just have to push the salesman to find out. When I pushed, I found out the car had just been unloaded from the train and would be trucked to the dealership in two days.

08-23-2006, 02:02 AM
Well, they may not be able to tell when it's on a ship. But once it hits California, they can get you the VIN, and from that point they can tell you exactly where it is, they just have to make some phone calls.

KLoLo
08-23-2006, 04:14 AM
I think they did say something like that. They said it didnt have a vin number yet, so it couldnt be tracked.

If the mgr is sayng stupid crap like that, start looking for someplace else to get your service done...... That is the most idiotic thing ever uttered!

But, it's great to have you in the family! I've had my xA over a year and haven't had a single hiccup from it. And I drive it a little hard...heheheh. And don't think all slushboxes are slow. I spanked a Mini Cooper S the other day.

I saw a total of 1 other xA in my town last week. The dealers get them in, they don't stay on the lot long and I never see one on the road. I guess people are buying them and storing them.

... I've had my xA over a year and haven't had a single hiccup from it. And I drive it a little hard...heheheh.
Same here. My xA has been solid as a rock. The more I drive it, the more I love it.

On a side note: KLoLo, why are you waiting for a single dealership to get one in? With "Pure Pricing", you're going to pay the exact same price no matter where you get it from. When my wife wanted her R.S. 2 xB we just searched deralerships inventories until we found one. We drove 2 hours away to get it, but she got the one she wanted...no waiting.

Are you wanting anything special? Side airbags (or, the exlodinng seat option)? Auto or stick?

matt_a
08-23-2006, 01:40 PM
Unless he has dropped a deposit on it.
Yeah but even that should be refundable. I'm sure they won't like it, but they can't keep a deposit. Especially if he's getting the run-around and it's taking longer than he was told it would. With these cars, there's just no real reason to wait on one if you find it elsewhere. The warranty and service will be honored at any Toyota dealership. It would kill me to be waiting and waiting on my car if I knew another dealership had what I was looking for.

oldmanatee
08-23-2006, 02:50 PM
I am with you there.... It looks like the dealer would go get it if it was close by...that is, if there is one close by, to keep a customer happy.

Or, do they not do that anymore?

SiouxsieSioux

If I'm not mistaken, the deposit is non-refundable.

Oldmanatee, can you please explain what you meant by "exploding seat option"? I opted for side airbags, so your comment intrigues me.

KLoLo
08-23-2006, 03:05 PM
Well, the main reason we are waiting is because we've looked at a few places, and no one in my area really has them. We search for about an hour away and no one had them, and I wasnt about to search too far away. We are buying it in Texas City (its like in between Galveston and Houston) because thats where my mom lives. She going to be the cosigner so she wants to buy local mainly because they deal with our specific bank.

My xA is supposed to be Flint Mica, with an arm rest and floor mats, Scion Security, and Side Airbags. In Automatic. When we told them what I wanted, dude was like "No problem." So we'll see what happens.

I'm at school right now (Sam Houston State) and I normally just stay around campus and I'm in walking distance to everything else. So I'm not too too worried about it yet. It just gets on my nerves that they told me one date, and now pushed it back another week.

matt_a
08-23-2006, 03:18 PM
If I'm not mistaken, the deposit is non-refundable.
I'm sure that's what they'll tell you. If they aren't living up to their part of the agreement, you can get it back.

KLolo, I understand what you mean. If you do decide to search, I don't mean actually driving around looking. When we were searching for my wife's xB, I would go to Yahoo and type in the name of a town near by with "Toyota" after it (like.. Frederick, MD Toyota). That would give me the names and websites for the dealerships. Once your on their web site, most have a listing of their current inventories. We searched a few dozen dealerships in all directions in about 30 minutes. When we found the car, we called to confirm that they had it and told them to hold it. Two hours later, she had her car. The internet is a wonderful tool! :P

That is mainly my attempt at humor... I am not a fan of airbags in any location. I don't like a small explosive device aimed at my head, so I don't want to sit on one either.
The last reck my ife had was not bad, but the airbags burnt her arms and messed her up pretty bad.

So, it is mainly a personal preference.

However, side air bags are not a popular option on xA's and that might be a reason that KLoLo might be waiting so long.

SiouxsieSioux
08-23-2006, 03:38 PM
My current car has front air bags, but I've never had an accident with it ... well, not one strong enough to activate them. I struggled with the side air bag option on the xA ... do I or don't I ... and ended up getting them. Hopefully, I won't regret it. Thanks.

^ Exactly!

Sorry for the sidebar ... Back on topic ...
I too searched dealers on the web using a 150 mile radius. Probably half of the dealers didn't list inventory on their sites, leading me to believe that they just didn't have any in stock. I found one car listed in Indiana that fit my bill, but when I called the dealer, they told me it was sold. If you are particular about the color, trans, and side air bag option (either yes or no), it limits the available inventory considerably. Wait for what you want.

When my dealer told me it could take six weeks, I told myself it would be eight. He called a week and a half after I had put down the deposit to tell me it would be three; I told myself six. This way I'm not disappointed when they can't meet expectations.

Well, I got a like...5% discount for my insurance form the side airbags. Since I'm a young male driver...5% ends up adding to a nice amount over a few years. Basically the side bags pay for themselves because they'll end up saving me money. On the color I gave them 3 different ones, well actually 4. I just told them no white, and no silver. I did tell them that Flint Mica was my first choice, but that if I could get any other one faster, I'd take it.

Problem with searching is, I live on the coast. So we can only really search a few ways out, not in a full circle. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to find ONE in Houston, but I dont really feel like fighting for one.

When I started reading stuff on here about how long it took, I pretty much had the idea it would take longer. So I wasnt totally surprised.

Maybe they just told me the 24th so I would get hooked into buying. We only put $500 down to like, get the paperwork started and stuff. But, it just sucks because I sold my other car, so I'm riding my bike and walking everywhere. Not too bad though...maybe I'll lose weight.

Talked to the dealer again. Well turns out the guy "read the screen wrong" and that they "think" it is going to be in port in Friday. HA! So that means its going to be like...I'm guessing two weeks after that only because of the way these guys have been...so I dont know...I dont feel like I'm being appreciated.

I know to them its just a cheap Scion that they wont make much money off of, but for me, its my first brand new car that I'm paying for without momma, and I feel like its like...a right of passage thing or something like that for me. I mean, for me...that 15,000 dollar plus car is super expensive...

I just checked the dealers section and see that Houston has 4 dealers. Have you called them to see what they have in their inventories? I find it hard to believe that they have nothing that would work for you. :nails:

xA's are getting scarce... people are buying up all the regular edition ones before the RS3 comes out and they HAVE to take it.

No, my mom said something about wanting to buy local. She lives in Texas City and is co-signing with me. (I dont have much credit yet) So I'm just kind of going with what she says. Plus, her being in TC which is a one hour drive to the southside of Houston, and me huntsville which is a one hour drive to the north side of Houston isnt really helping out.

Oh yeah, got off the phone with the dealer today. The new date is supposed to be the 8th or 9th. So, we'll see how that turns out.

If you can't travel 30-40 miles to find a car now. Stop whining about how long it's taking with the dealer you picked. If you wanted it faster you could have called all the dealers in and around Houston. If they had one you wanted you could have met your Mom there, did the paperwork on the spot and be driving it right now.
I thought you really tried to locate one locally (metro Houston) rather than just sit back and wait.

Umm wats a slushbox??As far as I know, slush box is AKA an auto transmission.
BTW, what does that have to do with this topic?

Don't get discouraged....it's just a little over a week, and you will enjoy the car so much when you get it!

KLoLo, have you heard any more from your dealer about your vehicle being ready at the end of this week? I'm hoping you did.

The waiting is worth it. I picked mine up late last week, and I'm loving it! Keep in mind that my last car was ten years old, had 110,000 miles, and was starting to give me lots of trouble. It's so nice to drive with confidence ... no more wondering if it'll die in bumper-to-bumper traffic! And I haven't had electric windows and locks since the mid 80's! One week in and I'm still giddy!

Hang in there!

Thats exactly how I am...I dont want to have to worry about breaking down. My first car didnt have a lot of miles (Around 55,000 when I got it), but it was a 1985. My second car was a 91 buick, with around 230,000 miles. The trans was starting to slip on it other stuff, so I got rid of it, so I know exactly how you feel.

Right now they are saying its going to come in on Friday. They gave me a date again...they said 8th or 9th. So we'll see. Main thing for me right now is im sick, and need to see the doctor, so i gotta figure out if its going to be in, so I can plan on going to the doctor up here, or back home.

Hopefully it'll come in. I'm getting like...way too anxious for my own good. LOL...I'm a guy, and I'm asking girls on dates and having them drive me!!! Thats not too good for my game right now...

I understand wanting to be able to drive on your dates. But if a woman loses interest simply because you're temporarily without wheels, she's clearly not worth your time.

Hope you feel better!

Hope Friday is your lucky day!

KLo, get well before Friday, no pukeing in the new car.....

Souixies, I have had mine over a year and I am still giddy......I got out of an 89 Astro van with 250,000 miles.

OH, MY GOD! That is such a sh*tty thing to do! Can you report them to someone? Or do something to let them know they can't treat customers like that? I am appalled!

So sorry for your situation, KLoLo!

Those guys really got me heated...they talked all rude to my mom...

Got the money back that we gave them TO HOLD THE CAR, and went and bought a Honda Fit the same day...sorry guys!

Were you able to find a Fit in a manual? Or were you getting an automatic all along?

Just curious because a manual Fit was my first choice, but finding one in the midwest is an impossible task. It's a good car though - sorry Scion left such a bad taste in your mouth (but I understand because Honda did the same to me).

thats what happens when you dont shop around.. the houston area has lots of other dealers...oh well enjoy your fit. even if its second choice. Not to be mean but a true scion person wouldnt have settled for a honda

HA. I'm not so much a true Scion person, as I am a true "I needed a car person, and I needed it now."

The Fit is the Sports package one. So its automatic, but has the paddle shifters on the steering wheel to shift manually too. Kool little feature. They gave me free oil changes for life, and a 7 year extended warranty. I think I won out, I also got more room in the fit. When I first saw them on the internet, I thought they were butt ugly. But...we did go to a few scion dealerships after we left that one, they all had to be ordered. I couldnt wait n e more. I had already been a month without a car. Oh well, so it goes.

Klolo, if you put down $ to have the car ordered, there's no way they can sell it to someone else. Don't you have anypaperwork for your order? Sue the jerks or something. My dealer is no treat either. Ordered my xA on July 14, was told that what I wanted (06 BSP xA/manual) was coming to a local dealer and they would get it re-routed to arrive here for me. Said it would be no longer than 3-5 days. That never happened. Was next told 2-4 weeks, tops. That never happened. Now, about 10 weeks later, I've been told my car is on the way to the Chicago distribution center and will be here around the end of the month. We shall see. Dude, what happened to you sucks. Your fit seems pretty cool, though, and you seem happy to have it. Sorta looks like my xA will if and when it arrives. I'm sending you a myspace friend request Klolo, and I'm sure I speak for most of us Scion folks who wouldn't mind if you still hung around here on the forums (even though you are a stinky Honda driver  ...j/k.) Enjoy your ride and look into legal action on those salesmen that stole your ride from under you. That's just not right.

Ya, I'm stickin around. I really like the Scions, but I needed a car. The Fit is really nice too, plus its the sport version, so it has the paddle shifters, and allow rims already. They owe me window tent, so I'm going back to the dealer to get that on Friday.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for your fit, and what were all of the accesories?

It ended up being around 18K. The sport model msrp ends up to be around 16000, but then the dealer added on window tent, and some protection stuff that was already on the car (start lock, window etch, wheel locks, etc.) It was more then I wanted to pay, but it was also right there. All the other stuff came standard on the "sport model". Like the lip kit, paddle shifters, fog lights, cruise, etc. It also came with front, side, and curtain airbags standard. My payments arent too much more, but I put an extra 500 down too.

Kinda disappointed in your run around with your dealer and the car.. sad to see you weren't able to get the xA...

Congrats on your new fit though, hope it treats you well. Now take those girls out on a date in your new ride. ;-)

I contacted 4 dealers in/around my area. Only 1 dealer (in Michigan Benton Harbor) contacted me back. They got my business, and I took the only xA they had on their lot. Not exactly the color I was looking for, but I love Ruby none the less.
