The first mod I do to my xA will probably be lowering it. At the moment I plan to go with Tanabe DF210s which I've seen pictures and it looks like it lowers the car and gives it a nice stance. However on one site it refered to them as springs for "dress up." I want the springs to improve the handling as well as make it look nice. Will these do the job? Is there a certain company you have delt with that has much improved the handling of your xA or other Scion and gave it a nice drop? Pictures are appreciated.

Tanabe has three lines NF - normal feeling, GF - Grip Feeling, and DF - Dress-up Form. I can't read japanese, but it appears that the DFs are the most aggressive of the 3. I don't think that the name means they are only for dress-up.

The lowering is acheived by making a shorter spring. The shorter spring must be able to still hold the weight up, so it is made stronger. That's where your better handling comes from and from lower center of gravity. Pretty much any name brand lowering spring is going to do this, the differences between them are minor...

If you are looking for performance out of springs, I would go with something that is about 1"-1.75" drop. anything lower can cause you to bottom out. I would look into tein springs.

Right now its between S-Techs or DF210s. I'm leaning towards the DF210s because the S-techs just don't lower it enough for my taste. Scions have tons of wheel gap which needs to be eliminated.

I guess it depends what size rims you want.
