where can i get some engine mods for my xB
hey guy i just got my xB about 3 weeks ago and i plan on traveling with it. but having only 108 horsepower, i seem to have a bit of trouble getting over the grapevine!
does anyone know of a place with some superchargers that aren't TOOOOO expensive, or turbo chagers, or anything in general.
id appreciate it if you left a web address, or a name of a shop or anything.
thanks
jeremy

Sorry to say it, but there's no such thing as a "cheap" supercharger. As far as I know the only company that makes a supercharger for the 1nz-fe engine is Blitz and it's listed at $3500. You can probably get it cheaper than that, I think overboost.com has it for $600 less than that.
Also figure that you're going to have to tune your engine for the SC as well, don't wanna run lean with forced induction ya' know. Hope that helps some.

yeah i know what you mean about no really cheap supercharger. i guess i figured id give it a try! well i guess my next post will be does any wanna let me borrow/HAVE 4 grand??????? lmao.
thanks for the post, i appreciate it.

Well, it never hurts to ask. As for getting over the grapevine, just do what I did put it 3rd gear and be patient. That's all you can really do.
Besides, even with forced induction installed, you won't be always boosting. Mountains just take a long time to travel over. Imagine how they did it before the grapevine?

LOL youre a koo person zeo. i know what you mean about not boosting all the time as well, you know how you get when you really want something. you begin to talk yourself into things and finding reasons to make it "okay!" LOL
SC's are not typically boosting all the time. That's why you always here about parasitic loss when people talk about SC's, that loss happens when the SC is not engaged b/c they are belt driven instead of exhaust driver, like a turbo. Your engine has to power that belt regardless of whether SC is in operation or not.
Now, depending on what type of SC you have boost will be on a greater proportion of the time. For example a roots type SC, I think these are almost always on.
Centrifugal SC boost less often and are tied to rpm operation, so they behave somewhat like a turbo, moving a large volume of air at the high rpms.
