most likely you will lose some MPG because you will probably drive it harder than you would have without the s/c

I'm also assuming you have to switch to premium, right?

I always thought that you would lose MPG because you're adding more power, which in turn makes the engine work more. Am I wrong?

Yes. The engine is not necessarily working "harder." The supercharger adds more air in the engine which must have a corresponding amount more fuel.

If the TRD supercharger for the TC is like the one for the celica and adds an injector, then you will loose gas mileage b/c you add more fuel to the added air from the supercharger.

Here is my logic on it:

the S/C gives you more power. More power makes you go faster. More power also uses more gas. BUT, if you add the super charger and dont use its added power (i.e. don't step on the gas pedal as hard) you should not use as much gas.

In everyday use it will probably hurt MPG by a few notches because it will be hard not to use that extra power some of the time. And if you add the S/C and dont use its extra power then why did you buy it in the first place?

If anyone cares for the Rolla/Matrix SC experience:

Before the SC I was getting 26-28mpg running on 87 gas.
With SC I was anywhere between 24 and 30 mpg on 93 gas. It's all in your foot.

hawkeye is correct, a SC forces more air in, and in order to maintain the same AFR, a corresponding amount of fuel is also added. So at any particular engine speed, you will be using more fuel with a SC then that of an engine without... You will also be making more hp at that engine speed then the engine without SC.
