I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the idle being rough. My engine shakes when at idle. I wenrt to dealer and they told me its a1.5 L and it shakes. ???WTF anyway i also have very poor gas mileage. I am thinking about changing the plugs. I put synth blend oil and the mileage went up a bit but my max on a tank is 279 thats with the needle below e :? anyway if anyone can help let me know thanks :wink:

a ground kit may smooth out the idle.

Your vehicle is under warranty. Since you have a couple of issues, take it to the dealer before you try "band aid" remedies.

sounds like a sparkplug problem already. How many miles do you have? Or are you a lead foot racer? :D

I have alittle over 4 k on the odo but the prob has been since i've had it i'm very busy and its hard to get to the dealer. BTW I did go to them, i knew about the tsb, but they never even mentioned it and i really don't think they even checked my car. they said no codes but unless a sensor is out of spec i doubt i would get a code ....anyway i read it might be the tb i'm going with the sparks when i get a chance. one last thing the rpms don't change just idle rough so i doubt its a ground issue :( thanks guys any more input would welcome i'll let you guys know what happens

The TSB doesn't involve the computer throwing any codes, it's simply a throttle cable adjustment. You can check it yourself in less than a minute:

Hold the throttle pulley (the thing the cable wraps around on the throttle body at the front of the engine fully closed (counterclockwise). Check the free play in the inner cable by pulling and pushing it into the outer housing. The spec is 1.0mm-3.0mm. If the cable play is outside this range, loosen the locknut on the cable adjuster and adjust to a value within the specified range.

I think we all have a fluctuating idle, but the RPMs go up & down ever so little. I bought the Ground Fusion kit and it pretty much took away that annoying idle.

If your idle is rough, and your RPMs don't fluctuate at all, I'd say you have another issue and it needs to be remedied by your dealer.

thanks for the tips guys i'll try them...btw i stopped by a car repair shop i use and they said it looks like a vacuum leak ..spark plugs won't help i'll let you know it goes :roll:

its def. something the dealership should take care of... I had a 2002 Camry last year, and it Vibrated like crazzzy... make sure your air cond. is turned off (because most engines vibrate more when the A/C is turned on, which is normal)... and show it to the mechanic, make enough of a big deal, but be polite, and theyll def. help.

the reason that the engine idles so roughly is because it is a 4-cylinder. 4-Cylinders are notorious for being the one of worst idling engines ever. A cheap solution would prolly be to get a grounding wire kit. When I put one on my car, it helped to smooth out the idle. also if you want to have a near perfectly smooth idle, you can get your engine balanced (however this will end up costing you at least $2K :D)
