Default 2007 tC, open, LSD or Viscus???????

ok before i start this i already did a search, for 3 or so weeks, and didn't find anything on the topic so i hope this isn't a repeat. i also posted this in the "everything you need to know about your tC" topic awhile ago, with no response

i have a 2007, and i don't do one leggers, i left 2 nice 120 foot long patches in my school parking lot, plus 2 more from dragging the rear tires. yea there flat spotted pretty good, just gives me an excuse to rotate them and burn 'em again to make them round. some one please get back to me.

p.s. i left 2 more patches in my complex while holding the rear tires on a speed bump so i didn't flat spot them.

Open.... You don't have a LSD...

And, blah on the burnouts.... waste of tire IMHO and vandalism to boot!

k, if not a lsd, what about a viscus? does the same job but is engineered different and functions differently.

Its open like everyone said. If you break them both loose at the same time, they will both burn out.

And yes, unless you are running slicks on a track (street tires really do not benefit from warming up) , burnouts are pure waste of tire... no matter how much fun they may be to some.

What you're calling a "viscus" (it's actually 'viscous') is in fact a type of lsd. The tC has an "open" diff, which is not an lsd. I suppose you could technically call it 'viscous' because that implies viscosity, and the diff is filled with oil, a viscous fluid. However, it's not an lsd.

BTW, lava is viscous too, but not good for a differential.

thank for everyones input, i do realize your right, but i was just wonding because with my too prievious vechles, i couldn't break them both loose at the same time, my corolla spun the driver side, my pick-up the passenger, with normal open diffs the one that has the least amount of traction breaks free first, in my corolla the drivers side had the shorter axle so more torque was transered to that wheel, in my truck, the torque wanted to twist the rear end, loading the driver side tire and unloading the passenger side. thats why i was wondering about the tC. cus i get torque steer, but when i drop it, they both let go, oh and cars are to have fun with, as with any hobby, things wear out and/or break and cost money to repair/replace. i am will to buy new tires, and wheels, i just need a good excuse first.

generally, most vehicles come with open diffs.....

my parents have had like 5 different vehicles at the house during the time i have been driving, and only one had a locking differential(old Chevy 4X4...gotta love 'em)

lockers are used occasionally in rear wheel drives....they work on the same principal, just different mechanisms, they dont open up as much as LSDs(not good for front differentials)

but one wheel wonders suck..i agree
