View Full Version : LED Swap str8upheney 11-05-2006, 10:15 PM anybody in the mass area that do the led swap?i will pay arbnpx 11-05-2006, 10:33 PM I'll watch this thread; the two most famous swappers on here are in Minnesota and California. If I had the courage and the SMD iron, I might be willing to do it, but it seems high stakes considering that the mileage is stored on flash in there. davedavetC 11-05-2006, 10:35 PM i got mine done by a guy local to me (friend of mine) he might be interested. he did a great job on mine :D http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/davedavetc/newgauges1.gif http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/davedavetc/newdash2.gif http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/davedavetc/newHVACtemp.gif str8upheney 11-22-2006, 02:11 AM hey dave can you talk to him and see how much he will charge me? davedavetC 11-22-2006, 02:15 AM sure, although im not 100% sure he will do the HVAC again. pm me, and remind me, i probly wont see him till next week. and if i do i might not remember so remind me XxTamTxX 12-01-2006, 07:22 PM looks good. Riceburner98 12-02-2006, 11:23 PM I'll have my LED's in any day now, I'll let you know how it goes. ;) I've been electronics for 10 years now, so doing it is no problem. Just depends on how much time it takes me. I'm going to do it without cutting any traces on the PCB though, I've always hated when people do that... :) I've already ripped mine apart and diagramed the circuit so I'm pretty sure I can do it that way. I live in Foxboro (couple miles from the stadium) but I work in Natick and I'm in Boston every weekend. (ie: right now. LOL Xmas party at the GF's.) I should be able to do them no problem, I ordered a bunch of red and blue, but no green or white. Maybe I should get those too. :) I was actually thinking of doing color-change gauges, think that would be worth it??? Basically so you could turn a couple dials and change the color to whatever you wanted... str8upheney 12-03-2006, 12:05 AM hey let me know how it goes i actually work in norwood off dean street its really close to you. hey if everything works out. maybe i will have to come see you. i got an 07 tc also ADRdesignCo 12-03-2006, 12:11 AM if you contact squalllheart (he did my gauges too.. see pf) i think he sends out also.. ADRdesignCo 12-03-2006, 12:12 AM oh yeah and as far as ive heard, there are small diffreences b/w the LEDs b/w the 06 and 07s. i think.. here are some pics of his work.. he did the gauges, hvac, locks and window switch and the steering wheel remote... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/adrdesignco/New%20Gauges/IMG_1584.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/adrdesignco/New%20Gauges/IMG_1592.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/adrdesignco/New%20Gauges/IMG_1573.jpg arbnpx 12-03-2006, 01:27 AM how do you get the odometer to reverse like that? Is there a polarizing layer that's changed out or something? str8upheney 12-03-2006, 01:37 AM thats nice how much did he charge you and how long until you got your gauges back? ADRdesignCo 12-03-2006, 01:59 AM arbnpx.... yah theres a polarizing filter on the odo LCD that you have to flip. and fortunately for me, that color was the default it came out too. iono about with diff color LEDs what color it would come out, but i have all white LEDs. str8upheney... since we used my car as the guinea pig for some the techniques he used, it was free. he lives up the street from me so there was no turn around. the price all comes down to what you want to do. you best bet would be to PM him and see how much he would do YOUR set up. :) pm SquallLheart arbnpx 12-03-2006, 05:03 AM haha, that's brilliant. I thought you'd have to crack open the LCD to flip the polarizer or something. For any other color, it would effectively be the reverse of what it looks like with the regular polarization. I personally think it looks better with the reverse polarization. If I could do the LED swap, I'd probably choose red with green needles. Unfortuantely I think the nearest LED swapper on here is on Long Island. ADRdesignCo 12-03-2006, 06:03 AM squall does ship outs i think. |
