Anyone put 3000k's in their fogs for xB1? Was wondering what would look better? 3000k or 8000k?

jbae - pm'd you on the 9006 bulbs and the harness.

agentorunge- good luck on the install today. :) don't flip the box over and your ballasts will be fine. :) haha.

xxatthegatesxx - thanks man, let's see the pics! :)

bbsacto - there was someone who picked up the 9006 3k bulbs for the fogs but I forget who... I personally like matching lights all around but with the jdm yellow in the fogs, it looks pretty mean. :)

viventi - don't worry, you'll get yours in time for a weekend project. :)

iheartzombies - pm sent! :)

Did the install today but I think I received two different bulbs, lol. I ordered the 4300K H4 set but the driver side bulb looks purple/pink. I wasn't even aware you offered the H4 in that color, haha. I would hope to think that the passenger side bulb is the 4300K so please confirm that also. Hope the pics help.

Thanks for great service Cliff. I got my order today and just finished installation. I got a few questions. Does your kit includes mounting brackets for ballast? i heard it does that's why i ask because i didnt get mine. Another question is do i have to readjust my headlights after installation? If yes then how do i do that? Again thanks alot.

drey- you're welcome man. the brackets should be under the tray that held all the components and yes, you may need to adjust your headlights. if you look at the backs of the headlights, you'll see small metal dials that you can rotate to adjust the beam up and down.

xxathegatesxx - nice pics man. :) they make driving so much more fun don't they? :)

Hey Cliff I looked under that tray and there are no brackets. I got hardware, zip ties and leds. So you think you can send me some brackets? redhot_1= dude your kidding right???? The red wire with the fuse goes to the battery's positive. The Black wire by itself goes to the ground on the battery. The connectors with the yellow rubber on them (blue and black wires) go the the power inverters. The last one goes to the stock headlight plug. It's a really simple install and the instructions were pretty simple.

I doubt it's lack of wanting to help and more like people don't know. I mean after all this is a Scion site and Scion doesn't use that size bulb. Go buy your kit somewhere else if you want to cry about it but you will be missing out on a great kit.

As far as my "brighness" problem goes......never mind I compared mine to a couple of others and it's actually brighter. Great product Cliff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes they used h11 in 08 models. I had to cut mine just a little to make them fit. That's why I said I think Toyota makes their own h11 but I'm not sure. I fixed mine in less than 2 minutes with my dremel. I didn't make big deal about this because its an aftermarket part and I don't expect them to fit right in most cases.
Again it was just in my case. I cut mine because I didn't want to brake it or something. Its always better to be safe. Other than that this kit is awesome. I love it so far.

just checking leds are polarity sensitive you did try them in both ways
they will only work if the correct side is hooked up to positive

woot! i just finally made my purchase for the 9006 6K set. I'm hoping this will be an easy install... not too sure where to put the ballasts for the 1st gen xB...

If anyone is willing to give me a hint or two for this let me know! I would appreciate it :)

Invertalon

Tips:

Make sure relay is placed somewhere it WONT get wet. Also good if you electrical tape it up real well, just to make sure.

Electrical tape the passenger side plug that won't be used anymore, just to stop it from getting wet and rusty.

Industrial strength adhesive velcro works really well for mounting ballasts, if you don't use the brackets for both of them. I attached one of mine via velcro and still going very strong.

thebox
03-21-2008, 07:04 PM
hey cliffud still haven't got my HID. I thought they were suppose to be in today.

cliffud
03-21-2008, 07:28 PM
thebox - can you please pm me with your purchase info? :(

invertalon - you might want to double check that the heat from the ballast doesn't affect the adhesiveness of the velcro that you're using. other than that - sounds like a good idea for mounting them anywhere you need.

bbsacto - 9006 6k for the 1st gen xB- this is for fogs or do you have sonar projector headlights? :) (just making sure you got the right setup)

chelsdf - you'll need an H4 kit for the new xD. like 05 trd mentioned though, you'll need a dual-HID kit if you want HID high beams. since the H4 kits have HID low beams and a halogen high beam, you do not have to worry about losing high beams. if you happen to live out in the middle of no where and need high beams, the dual-HID setups work VERY WELL.

sciobox - sorry man, can you please PM me again about the relay?

maxim and bignoog - lol - yep, that's what I often run into as well. i've had complete strangers who have aftermarket HID setups in their cars pull up next to me and ask why my HID fogs are so bright.

sdsnybny - AWESOME PHOTOS!! Honestly guys- if you have a first gen xB, the sonar headlight housings are VERY good replacements. The light output may not be as even as an LS430 projector (the best in the OEM market) but having a lot of light focused straight in front of you isn't a bad thing either. sdsnybny - i bet you can see WAAAAAAAAAAY farther now huh? :)

03-22-2008, 05:03 PM
SilvertC06,
there are a couple of DIY's for this on the xB, the tC shouldn't be much diff.

simple version;
on the back of the oem switch is two wires you tape one off (not sure witch one)
and add a ground wire from the open switch leg to a good ground. This way you could leave the fogs on and not notice there on and drain the battery
http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f19/12605-diy-independent-oem-fog-lights/

More time needed version;
get a led lighted oem size switch from Oznium (pick a color )and do the above plus add power to led pole and another SEPERATE ground wire for the led in switch
then you will know if you turned car off and left fogs on.
Hope this helps
this DIY is for a lighted JDM switch change out but a 4 pole led switch will be wired the same.

Aloha,

Once in a while, I seem to see some aftermarket HID's (on a honda fit) that are extremely bright (maybe 20-30% brighter than my [mobileHID] 5k kit). I wanted to ask if anyone knew about different kinds of HIDs? I remember I stumbled upon different levels based on power consumption?

Please note: this is absolutely NOT a post bashing mobileHID or any other company, I am simply wondering such levels of power output existed, and if mobilehid had such offerings.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow. i mounted both ballasts behind the grille using the 2 bolts that hold the bumper on. since i took off the bumper anyways to install the bulbs, i just figured i'd use those same screw holes to mount the ballast while im screwing the bumper back on. seems to have worked out. also. both the 9006 bulbs that i got didn't fit into the socket because the o-ring that it came with was too thick. it wouldn't clear the socket hole. so luckily i had my old stock 9006 bulbs lying around so i just swapped the o-rings with the stock fog bulbs then they fit just fine. also, only the driver side harness plugs into the relay, the passenger side, you just leave it be. tape it up or something, i need to do this since i just left it dangling. i'll get pics up as soon as i can of the install and how i mounted the ballasts.

i believe the honda fits headlights are reflector based, so what you're seeing is probably all that light from the glare shining right into your eye, which makes it seem hella bright. but if they were aimed correctly, lower, then it'll probably look like they should.

revoluzion
03-23-2008, 10:23 AM
Thank you for your input. Just to clarify though, however, I was driving side by side next to this Honda Fit and in other cases other models. So in that sense, I'm not sure if it's the reflector aspect. I'm guessing perhaps a stronger output based on higher power consumption, if one existed as such.

agentorunge - yep, only one side plugs into the wire harness. :)

hotboxn, just send $170 to sales@mobilehid.com with a note of what you need. thanks!

revoluzion - other cars may seem brighter compared to your 08 xB HID setup with projectors that offer a strict cutoff of light. what other models of cars did you compare with?

as far as higher wattage kits are concerned, none are offered since the demand isn't that high for them.

maxim - can you check the bulb labels to see if it's just the box that was labeled incorrectly. sometimes boxes get bashed up in shipping so they're swapped out with other boxes and relabled but yours may not have been relabled on accident. please keep me posted.

Thanks!

Yeah, Im awaiting your images

both ballasts are mounted behind the grille.

as you can see, i used the screw that holds the bumper onto the car and sandwiched the bracket in between it. then mounted the screw back on. only that one screw holds the ballasts for both sides so it may bounce a little bit. but so far, it hasn't bounced hard enough for me to hear it inside the car. you may want to also double side tape the other end of the ballasts down if you'd like. hope this helped.

Hey guys- just thought I'd share with you something cool I sort of "discovered"...

For years I've been interested in fish eye camera shots but was afraid of spending hundreds, if not thousands, on an SLR and the myriad of lenses that are necessary to exercise the full potential of a good SLR.

So here's the next best thing.

Camera used: Samsung L85 - 8MP camera.
The product:
http://static.zoovy.com/img/goshotcamera/-/lenses/bower/magnetic/mpower_magnetic_conversion_lens_on_camera.jpg
Purchased where: on ebay naturally.
Cost: $40

Quick summary: The images aren't the sharpest but when the 3264 x 2448 pixel images are dumbed down to 800 x 600 photos for web use, it doesn't look THAT bad. And for only having cost $40, this was a pretty fun addition to my little camera.

Sample shot (please pardon the less than perfect wheel):

http://www.mobilehid.com/images/fe3.jpg

Don't know how many of you guys are interested in photography but this was a cheap way to have some fun with a point and shoot camera.

Your relay ^^

Is it in a place that it CAN at all get wet? Mine did the same thing. Found out when I washed my car (not the rain) water got all over the relay and fried it. I went to radio shack and bought a 40amp automotive relay replacement ($6?) and cleaned out the female part of the relay, contact cleaner and all, ensure it was completely dry, put the new relay in, and give it a huge electrical tape wrapping.

Give that a go. Most likely it is the relay.

SilverTc06
03-31-2008, 07:08 PM
ok now they wont even come on, i felt of the relay for my lowbeams and it was cool, but i felt of the fogs relay and it was warm and my car has even been on for a good 2 1/2 hours. and the relay for the fogs were in the same place as the low beam relay so i dont see it getting wet but who knows. cliffud if you could help me out i would appreciate it.

cliffud
03-31-2008, 10:54 PM
I'm going to guess it's a relay issue. I have some spares laying around, if you need a new one, just cover the 5 bucks fr 2-3 day priority shipping and I'll get a new one sent out.

As far as being waterproof- the ballasts and bulbs are but the electrical harness should be treated like any other electrical items and care should be taken to not get the relay wet.

Thanks.

Hey guys...

Some of you guys know already and I thank you for helping me keep this on the down low while the deal went through. For those of you who don't know, it's with a heavy heart that I deliver this news but at the same time it is a good thing for me, the business, and for all the MobileHID customers in the past and in the future.

A few hours ago I signed the papers that officially sold the rights to the MobileHID.com name, customer base, wholesale client list, and the inventory that was in stock to the holdings group that also acquired Sport Compact Only here in Arizona.

I want to thank all of you guys for your support over the past year and a half and that you shouldn't have to worry about your kits because the new owners understand and agree to stand by the warranty offered and will continue to offer the 3 year warranty for all customers.

I personally will be staying on board for another month to help with the transition period but after that, I no longer will be affiliated with the MobileHID brand nor will I be dealing in the HID lighting industry per a non compete agreement that was part of the deal.

That being said, I will be focusing more on the clear bra film business and encourage all of you to protect your vehicles with the film.

05_TRD_tC, I didn't realize you were interested in slim style HID kits man. I have a few here that I can let go for cheap. :)

PM me for more info.

Hey Cliffud, I was just wondering about the led bulbs that came with the kit.

I'm guessing those are for the interior dome lights and parking lights perhaps?

I did install the kit last night and I love them! Thanks

cliffud

Hi Cliff...well im kinda disappointed right now bud...ive sent you like 3 or 4 pms about the bulb i sent you that burnt out and no reply... :( let me know if theres anything you need me to do... i sent out the bulb on thursday or friday of last week and i wanted to see if you received yet.. sorry for this post... but im not sure if you didnt get my pms or my computer never sent them to you...anyhow... let me know whats the update...thanks Cliff! :(

cliffud
04-17-2008, 11:36 AM
Chris! I just put 2 and 2 together and realized that this random bulb that got sent in was yours. I apologize for not realizing it before but there wasn't any information inside the package so I was sort of at a loss.

I finally tracked down your order though and I'm sending out a SET of H7 6k bulbs to ensure your bulbs can colorshift together and you get even light output.

About apologizing for the post, I'm glad you did because I wasn't sure what the story was behind this bulb sitting here.

Thanks.

Sorry to bug you, but I'm sorting through all this HID info, how much is a bi-xenon hi/lo kit for an xA? Oh, and how many ballasts are there?

cliffud
04-17-2008, 06:49 PM
jsingh- pm'd you man! :) sometimes I miss a couple, sorry bud.

brianspellings, there are 4 ballasts in the dual-hid kit since there are 4 HID sources (2 per bulb - one for high, one for low). just sent you a PM on the price shipped to a US address.

cliffud
04-25-2008, 11:34 PM
maxim - if you want the wire harness, it would only be $20 more for an even $100.

is this as good as the regular... ehhhhhhhhh, not really.

there's a reason why they're not officially sold and why they are priced the way they are.

* one of my distributors tested them and found them to be dimmer than the normal ballasts,

* due to not having regulated power internally, they dim just like halogen bulbs when the bass hits in my car (even when hooked up via a relay wire harness). dimming does not occur with the mobilehid ballasts.

* and it seems as though the ignitors need to be mounted AWAY from the actual ballast when installed otherwise they may not fire up properly.

but other than that, they're great! lol.

if you're interested in a set, just paypal $80 or if you watn the harness $100. to sales@mobilehid.com with a note of what you want and I'll make sure it gets shipped out.

once they are gone, they are gone.
