how much is it to tire swap from rim to different rim at a tire shop? im in socal btw.

 

about 50 bucks. some places might not because of liability. but yeah around 50 might even come w/ some kinda road hazard. what are you trying to put on?

I called america's tire store yesterday and they said, $140 for 18" wheels. Guess I gotta find other store.

 

they had to have meant a new tire??!? huh? $140 for mounting and balancing a tire? they need to lay off the drugs!

 

I don't know, I said I will bring my own rims and tires and the guy on the phone was like "you don't need anything from us? okay, it will be $140"

 

pretty sure that's for all 4 tires... which would make the cost $35 per tire/rim, which isnt a crazy price.

 

I just checked out tirerack.com and found a local shop that does it for $15 each, I will call them in the morning see what they say.

 

I'm kinda worried about getting scratches while mounting tires, it says they use touchless machine or something but I'm still worried. Would it better to just go to bigger (maybe popular) store? If they mess up my rims, would they pay for it?

yeah there's no such thing as a "touch less" machine. they'll put plastic on the parts they use but that's it. but if you take it to sams club they'll charge you 9 bucks a tire.

 

oh and unless you really b*tch about it. they'll pay for new ones. usually they're good about it and if they use that plastic covers they won't get scratched.
