Default RS3 Envy green radio and monitors problem

ok i have heard that some rs3 have problem with there monitor going out . and they took them back to the dealer to get the fix. what i am trying to find out is was the monitors them self that had to be replace because they where bad or was it the pig tail that cus all the problem(Power wire) ? the reason i asking is i had more monitors added to the same stock rs3 alpine head unit and had no problem just yesturday the stock monitors went out and i can't turn them on any more. so instead of going to the dealer and asking whats up, my radio guy tells me that he will have to replace them because there the problem not the radio.. is this true or not. because i don't want to have to spend more money to replace the ones i already have. any info or input on this please.

Yeah, it has something to do with the control module. Just dont take it direct to the dealer with out reading thru that post. Most dealers dont even know our cars came stock with monitors.

Hey Ruben! I suggest you get rid of that ugly system you have in the back of your RS3. I will be glad to take it off your hands to help you out--so to speak. I would only make this sacrifice for a fellow RS owner.

Well count me in the "dead monitor" club. Mine just went out yesterday. Same problem, up for 2-5 minutes, then dead as a doornail. I already called Scion customer care and told them to add me to the list of all the others with this problem, and getting ready to call the dealer right now. The only saving grace with the local dealer is one of the mechs. has an RS3, so they know it well and what came with it stock.

Went to dealer this afternoon. My service rep and a mechanic came over, and when I explained the problem the mechanic asks the rep "Isn't that the same problem you're having?". The rep also owns an RS3, and he is having the exact same problem. He has not yet been able to figure out a fix for his (he has tried changing out the HU (now on the 3rd one), but that obviously didn't fix). I brought with me a printout of the other thread, and had highlighted yig114's post near the end where he is getting his fixed, and pointed out the info about contacting TIS to get the part #. He said he had called them previously but they had not been any help. He is going to try again with TIS to get a part number, and if not able will call Scion.
If anyone is able to get a part number for this, PLEASE POST! It will be of great help to everyone in getting theirs fixed.

Thanks Dave

Another question: Will there be a TSB coming out on this or anything on paper for the dealers?

Default monitor fix

Well if they write you up a repair ticket. Problem, and what they did to fix it. Parts ext. If you could pass that along here, it might be all we need to hit our local dealers up for the proper fix.

I may just try it my self. It sounds like the one wire video signal is too week to split into two monitors. a video signal amplifier, and two separate feeds to each of the monitors should fix the problem.

Mine did the same thing. I took it in to my dealer and they fixed it with no problem. I'm not sure what the deal was, didn't ask because I didn't realize this was turning into a universal problem. Sorry!!

Got the call from the dealer this morning that they had the av module in. I dropped the box off at 10 and just picked it up. Both screens are working like a champ. Thanks mucho Dave for the part numbers!
