Default wishfull thinking? or am i right?

I have 18' TRD Rally rims on my xA, and needless to say, my acceleration sucks pretty bad. I have intake which helped a little with the acceleration but its still slow considering the massive size of my rims. My friend got a tC and we have been messing aroud and he beats me naturally because of engine size, but when we get going i can keep up with him, its just when we start from a dead stop its over, do ya'll think if i put some steelies with decent set of tires it would help that much or am i just doing alot of wishfull thinking... just give me ya'lls thoughts....thanks. (oh, and be nice with the comments if i have done alot of wishfull thinking, haha.)

How much do the TRD Rally rims weigh? How much do the steelies weigh?

get some lighweight 15's(some are as light as 10 lbs.) those 18's are too heavy, plus the bigger diameter pushes the weight outward taking more power to move em.

Lighter rims help a little, and you'll get better MPG. But don't expect to transform your xA into a race car by running 15s. It comes stock on 15s and it's still slow.

You really won't see much difference on the stock steelies. The stock steelies are heavy. They are steel after all. It would realy be a waste of time to switch to a smaller wheel unless you plan to go with something lightweight.

If you are interested, take a look at Konig. They have some really lightweight options at reasonable prices.

if you can go lighter, that will help, but primarily if you are dragging you want to lower the wheel size and slightly increase diameter. I am sure your tires are either 205/40-45's if you have the TRD's. I would run the 15's in 205/50-55.

This should help out a little with the initial wheel hop and get you off the line smoother and faster. (anything over 16 produces huge wheel hop with our soft mounts).

ok your wheels aren't that heavy, lighter wheels in a smaller size will help.

However the biggest reason you're slower right now is gearing, the larger outer diameter has raised your gearing, on the highway you're currently getting BETTER mileage then you will with the smaller wheel/tire package
