Default Noob in the turbo field.....

hey whats up guys?? ok i have a few questions im sure they have been covered a million times but theres so much info on turbos that im getting confused lol
ok ....... im looking for a turbo for my o7 so far i have afound that only the dezod kit is available for my 07 correct me if im wrong... im looking for a turbo that gives a good power increase but is still reliable and doesnt take to much mpg away....something ATLEAST comparable to an sti's power so prob around 270 whp???? but i also want the car to be reliable on long trips and if its babied can produce good mpg's.... whats a safe boost with stock internals????? and if needed can i turn the boost way down if i dont plan on running the car hard????? im sorry for all the questions i just wanna get things right the first time... thanks in advance

I don't think you need to look much further.

Our turbo is a minimum of a 100whp gain at 8 PSI. It makes gobs of power that will contend with a lot of the cars on the road. All of our customers can contend to that for sure.

With respect to reliability, it depends on how well you stay up on the maintence of the car and how well she is tuned. Simple as that.

*you can also get a TRD S/C and mod the pullys and get more or the same amount of HP for a lower price.*

well imo your only options are zpi and dezod.

first ill start with dezod (alphabetical not saying ones better )

t3/to4b garret turbo with ar options (turbine size, determins where the powerband is, total hp, lag etc. They will help you choose) and ball bearing option for better efficiency(less lag)
tig welded manifold with jet hot coating as an option to control underhod heat and an spipe,
manifold also available with a Random Technologies cat to get rid of the cel and help with emmisions
bar and plate fmic that will fit with the stock crashbar (very nice imo!) an the option to jethot coat the charge pipes as well
tial wastegate
hks bov
rc550 cc injectors very well sized for a street car
pre tuned (they seem to very good at getting a great base map) greddy emange with wiring harness optional map sensor(makes it so you can adjust the boost without having to retune)
and they offer the "black box" since all piggy backs on the market only tune WOT not part throttle where the ecu tries to return the afr to 14.7 which is lean on a turbo car and can cause knocking. price without options is 4365 onsale on their site.
oh and all kindsa hardware and other little things you need.
dezod.com
zpi
EVO III GT Big 16g which is a common upgrade for dsm and subaru guys. Considered most hp producing turbo for your buck by some. No bb im pretty sure. Makes boost very very fast.
ZPIracing External 38mm Wastegate not a tial but i have yet to see anyone have any complaints other then you need to get it with a copper gasket
HKS BOV
ZPIracing Front Mount Intercooler requires removing of the factory crashbar
Pre tuned Emanage with optional pnp harness300$
550cc ZPIracing PnP Injectors
Stainless Manifold robitically welded now i believe
4 ply couplers
4599 on their site www.zeropointindustries.net
the dynos ive seen the zpi makes a little more power and torque. Also it seems the 16g turbo makes boost alot sooner then the t3 from what ive seen i could be wrong since everyone seems to run something a little diffrent.

oh and dont forget you'll need a clutch soon too.

ok well ur making me lean toward the dezod more whether it was ur intention or not lol.... i liek the fact of the ball bearing upgrade i like not having to remove the crash bar...and the greddy emange...the only thing that concerns me about dezod is actual power output....zpi claims to put out 300whp...... how about dezod??? also with adjusting the boost ..... at what increments can i do this??? liek say im taking it easy can i set it so that my peak boost will only be say..... 3 psi????? or will that cause fueling problems??? im sorry if soem of these question seem silly bu tim trying to get all the info together first ..ya know?? thanks again guys

well i just check zpis site and forgot to add the greddy map sensor is an option

anyway back to your question. Do a search for dynos. There are tons on here. As far as adjustable boost, why? Just stay out of boost when your driving around town. Adjusting it too much could cause tuning issues. I know the emange ultimate has a switch on it for two maps, one for street one for race.
Anyway if your close to buying start calling these companies (not to shrug you off but they know more then me). Paul and Joe are incredible at answering questions. Ive pmed them back and forth on sundays before! Zpi's sometimes tuff for me to get ahold of online but they are always great at answering questions and are really good guys there. There phone numbers the best bet.
