Default anybody get their moonroof fixed at Melody Toyota?

After 380 miles my moonroof has started to make the popping sound. I was thinking about getting it fixed and wondering if anyone has taken it to get fixed at Melody Toyota. I want to know beforehand if that dealer has dealt with this problem before.

Is that the dealer you bought it from? If so then contact scionhq and open a ticket with them. They will contact the dealer and help thier mechanic fix it, since there is not a TSB out yet. I took mine back to my dealer twice adn they had not fixed it... in fact the second time they made it worse. I had said hey you can call scionhq and have them walk your mechanic through the procedures.... They didnt. So I just did, they will contact the scion corp rep for the dealer and explain the situation, I should be getting it fixed hopefully in the next few days. Hope this helps, hope it saves you the time I wasted.

I tried to ask them to fix it once, then the guy told me that's normal, I was like wtf.

anyway, I will try to go one more time since i need them to fix radio cover rattle and paint rust spot (not sure if that's my fault or the car's problem, but this thing should not happend for a new car). now if this time they told me normal too, I will contact scion hq right on the spot and have them deal with the dealer.

melody's salesmen(in my case saleslady) are good, but their service tech seems to be non-responsible. so i will give them one more chance, if they still try to play with me I will just go to another dealer for service.

haihengh : If thier service department is like that, then you should contact scionhq first (imho) since the sales department doesnt control the service department. I would have _____ed them out if they had told me it was normal! Plus where are your rust spots?

it all over on the car, and they are very tiny. i think they are some metal piecees that the car collect when driving. and i use gas station machine car wash for the first month of of ownership (don't do that anymore since i gain knowledge from autipia.org). so i may think they are not actually coming from the paint. but they do look like rust from under the paint.

either way, since I was one of those sukers that get tricked into buying dealer paint protection (waste of money), they told me that i can use machine wash. now this happen, I will go the dealer and _____ing about that, get them fix the problem.

Ya I know the feeling here... one dealership told me they drove it and heard nothing out of the ordinary, now I know thats not true, my car ALWAYS does it now, every 100 ft it will make SOME noise from the roof. I told them to call Scion HQ, that there is no TSB, but if they called they would tell them about the issue... they told me ok, then later that day call me and tell me my car is ready. I get there, they did NOTHING, I asked if they called Scion, he says no, since they didnt hear anything.... I check my milage... they drove it .5 miles!

You'll need to be quite specific with your dealer, because there are two issues:

- Popping/creaking/wind noise possibly caused by loose/missing bolts, missing seals, etc.

- Normal popping caused by an inflexible glass roof on top of a flexing car.

The first one is fixable, the second is a fact of life for a glass-roofed car. Sounds like yours may be the fixable one.

You may need to take the Scion manager or service manager for a ride (further than to the corner and back, which is what it sounds like they did on Dulanic's car) to let them hear the extent of the problem.

haihengh - if you were on autopia, they probably turned you on to the clay bar, right?

yes, i did use the clay bar, but doesn't help that much, that's why i am kind of worry about the rust.

i did a 5 hour wax job last weekend, which including clay bar, paint cleaner, glaze, ntx wax and normal yellow wax. hope that will seal up the rust for now. i don't really have time to go to the dealer, but i know i do need to have it fix asap.

If you are talking about the popping in the sunroof when you go over bumps, curbs, small children..ect.. That is from body flex in the car. YES! in about a few days or shortly, there will be a TSB out about it. If you want me to email it when I get it, let me know via email...Thanks all...It's no big deal a quick fix!

ProjectD: Go to Putnam Toyota in Burlingame. It's only an extra 5-10 minute drive from Melody, but they'll fix ur car there. I was the first one to take my car to them, and they solved the problem in about 4 hours. I didn't even buy the car from them, and they still were pretty helpful.
