I was listening to the Adam Corolla show this morning (I think that was the one) and I think they made a good comparison. I don’t remember it word for word, but this is what I made of it….
Sharpton (etc.) are like janitors. Sh!t happens, and they do a damn good job cleaning it up. But they are so good at their job, that eventually they run out of sh!t to clean. So when nobody is paying attention, they knock over a garbage can, announce the mess, clean it up, and then put up the “wet floor” signs to let people know that they did something.

It's different with chappelle or chris rock. They do it to get laughs and make people feel good. Imus did it cuz he's a douche...
I think he should be fired cuz he's an idiot and I can't stand him...
And as for that second video I dunno if I disagree with all that was said. I mean in the south racism is very alive. Here in Jersey we're really to busy to care what color you are or what religion you believe in. As long as you don't commit any criminal activities then you're fine by my standard...

In reality he described hair and called a girl a word that isnt nice. Is that really grounds for getting fired? Does he really think as trashy as he sounded when he said it? ....who knows

yea there are racist people everywher no doubt...
but yea its just something that should never have been said.. I dont think racial jokes are the best thing in the world but at least those are said to get a laugh. This wasnt even like a joke that went overboard, it was am unwarranted comment.. And you heard the guy in the backround saying "they look more like the grizzles..." I mean thats not a joke, thats completely uncalled for.
heres something thats somewhat alright.. "black people are the best at baskteball because they can run steal and shoot.." haha, its a joke, not directed at anyone
but calling the rutgers womens basketball team a bunch of "nappy headed hos" and "grizzlies" as well as others things is demeanind, untrue, and takes away from a great season...
Again, I think it would be best if neither was said, but what I am saying is that racial jokes are meant to be funny, as as long as they are respectful (for a joke) then its somewhat alright, whereas like I said before Imus is just a douche and comments like this are just uncalled for..

Here’s another vid, not so disturbing as the last 2:
http://www.break.com/index/balls_of_steel_militant_black_guy.html
Chappelle, now there’s a guy who puts a humorous twist on racism.
“Black-white supremacist”, now that was a good skit. I liked the part at the end where whats-his-name (the reporter) stated that Bigsby divorced his wife of xx-years, and when asked why, “because she’s a n***** lover”
I also like the skit he did where he was a milk-man who delivered to a family called the _____rs. It was set back in the 50’s (when racism was the worst) and this guy could insert their name into a “derogatory phrase” and they would just laugh because they were ignorant (was just their name).
On a more serious note…
Racism still exists today. Some people are intentional, and some people just don’t know any better. Some people truly believe that such-and-such race is superior/inferior, and some people just don’t know any better. Ignorance is not an excuse, but sometimes can be an explanation……
Again, to the
STEREOTYPES  (add any you know) --- European-Americans are racist. British men have bad teeth, and French women don’t shave. African-Americans are gangsters. Mexican’s are lazy, and Mexican-Americans (…followed by Cheech and Chong’s song…). Canadians are pussies. Russians are Communists. Asians can’t drive. Arabs are terrorists. The dingo ate the baby and the toilets swirl clockwise (Arnold, he’s cool).

I disagree with the people saying that Chris Rock and Dave Chapelle can say it because they mean it for laughs.
If I(being a white man) tell a joke that uses the N-word in it, and I mean it to be funny, I'm a racist. If I told a joke about a whit guy it's fine.
If one of the above mentioned comedians tells a joke(or does an entire stand up routine) regarding white people, and the whacky things we do, it's all good.
That is racism. There is no such thing as reverse-racism. That is someone making up a fancier way of saying what it really is. It's friggin racism.
That new Nick Cannon show on MTV just had a commercial about how the next episode was talking about the weird ways white people say hello. The clip mocked a few white guys at work talking at a water cooler. Guess what, not all white people act/talk like that. To me, that can be filed under R for racism.
Whether it's meant to be funny or meant to be mean, it's ____ that doesn't need to be said and thats that. If the Imus situation was dealt with away from the camera crews, it would've been done with the following day. Should he have said it, no he shouldn't have. But we can't police what people say 100%, and we shouldn't try.

If I(being a white man) tell a joke that uses the N-word in it, and I mean it to be funny, I'm a racist. If I told a joke about a whit guy it's fine.
You need to check out a comedian named Ralphie. He's big fat white guy that tells a bunch of racial jokes. He's frickin hillarious too. He's got a skit about the joys of going to a black theater to watch a black movie and how he can't wait for Undercover Brother 2 to hit the screens. And yes, the black folks in the audience (a bunch of them) were laughing too, just like the white folks at a Chris Rock concert laugh too.
And I watch the Sopranos, don't even try talking noise about how there isn't much racism in NJ. It's different, but it's still there. In fact, you're more likely to run into a more refined style of racism where you even seperate the white folks based off their country of origin. For example, try bringing home a Cathy O'Mally to Grand ma Poggioreale's Sunday dinner and just watch the eyes roll and the whispers dart around the table.

in america there is freedom of speech, i can go outside and scream "F BLACK PEOPLE" and nothing would happen, maybe a few ugly faces.
BUT, freedom of speech ON TV is not freedom of speech. It is freedom of speaking as long as you are within standards of the network broadcasting it. This is why Imus was fired.
He can be racist all he wants, just not on tv.

But they didn't get all worked over it. There was no yelling, they had a news conference and appeared on some shows, that's it. They mantained great composser and conducted themselves very ladylike.
As a black female, it is offending to be called a "nappy headed ho", shoot I'm offended if someone calls me a ho. Though I'm know I'm far from one. He bluntly disrepected them, ON AIR. So everyone talking about free speech, yada yada, I'm sure he signed a contract as far as content for the show, and calling someone a "ho" probably isn't listed as cool in it. He's a freaking political whatever whatever, why is he talking about women's basketball??
Pesonally I didn't take the remark as racial, but the ho part was way to far. That however doesn't mean I love having my hair called nappy, but that didn't bother as much as the "ho" deal.
In my closing remarks, the producer should have also been fired also as he said "ho" first on the air. There's no way I would work for these two when I felt like every time I had to be in their presence, they thought I was a "ho". I realize that you guys may say losing me wouldn't lose anywhere near the amount of money that losing Imus and his producer would, but if most of the women in that company pulled together and sued then what.

yeah i used it, but i thought about it and meant it. i don't use the "h" or the "b" word too often, and I use it as a unisexnot just for women. Also I don't uses racial slurs because they're totally disrepectful, supposedly he also called them jiggaboos (sp?). I heard that he said that on my morning radio show, but I didn't hear him say it on the news. IMO, you don't call someone a "nappy headed ho" and not mean it, that takes thought. Regardless of how Mr. Sharpeton and Rev Jackson reacted, Imus said it. Period. He said something he should've have said. Sure Mr. Sharpeton pushed hard for his firing, but those companies have to condsider what keeping Imus would have done to their own rep and how their female, especially black females, would feel working there. How would that look to keep someone around that called some girls that he didn't know "nappy headed hos" on air. These girls were just playing basketball, everyone can run around looking like Candace Parker or Diana Tarausi. Yeah some girls look "rough" when they play, but they're playing ball not modeling.

It is different in the way of they come with "explicit content" stickers on their albums. I still don't like it when rappers use it, but they do come with a warning. If it was really okay then the uncensored verion would play on the radio. But it's not, however that what the listeners that listen to The Game and other rappers like him want to hear. In the same way that you don't have to buy the cd if you don't like the artist, if you don't like the DJ, don't listen. The sticker doesn't mean crap when it comes to what they can say. All it does nowadays is block out part of the packaging art. I've seen kids 12 or 13 years old buying cd's with the ever so helpful warning label on it. It doesn't do anything, nor does it give someone the right to verbally attack another.

Its all a matter of who said what.....If a white guy says it, it racist, a black guy says it, it's just a thing.
Like the famous "N" word, that gets deleted in posts, if a white person says it, they're a racist, but blacks use it in conversations, and songs....and the kicker is...they say its like white people calling each other "honkys and krackers".... I cant recall the last time I called my buddy a "honky or kracker"....
Im not racist.....I hate everybody equally.
Its just words. You can either ignore them, or deal with them, you cant censor them...thats life....to short to worry 'bout who called me a name.

Besides...Karma is a bi-yotch, she catches up with everybody.
calling Karma names like that… she might get offended
It’s not really the word(s) themselves that make a statement racist. It’s the meaning behind them that make them racist.
You hear an old white guy (Imus for example) say “nappy headed-ho” and “jiggaboo” in making fun of a few girls. He didn’t say it to be nice, he said it to crack a joke about them. Was his joke racist? We’ve all heard what he said, and we all understand the meaning behind those words. But do any of us really know why he said it? For all we know, maybe he listens to way too much hip-hop, and those were the first words that came to his mind.
So was that racist of him? Possibly. But let’s say that instead of Imus saying it, it was a black man. Throw Dave Chappelle in there. He says those same words, with the intent of making fun of them. Not only would people not be offended by it (with the exception of a few), but he would’ve actually gotten somebody to laugh by saying it.
On the topic of lyrics in music… So you slap a “warning” label on it, and then it’s ok? It’s alright for a black man to use racial slurs in derogatory terms? I don’t believe in “censorship”, but the question still remains. If Garth Brooks sang about the same crap that a few rappers do, then every single civil-rights group would be getting in line. NOW for the $$$Million question…. Why do they turn the blind eye???... My answer “because they are still looking at the color of the skin”.

The difference is all about who is signing the checks. If the record label is signing your check, you only have to worry about selling records. If the the broadcaster is signing your checks, then you have to worry about selling ads. People who buy ads are hyper sensitive to these kinds of things because of association, negative attention, and of course the boycotts. Those kinds of things have a detrimental affect on the bottom line and stock price.
He didn't get fired for what he said. He got fired for how what he said affected the people that keep the lights on and the salaries stacked at CBS.
