Default CHEAP DOOR SPEAKER SPACERS

Ok so I installed my new 6.5" door speakers this weekend and I ran into a big problem. None of my local shops had the spacers I needed. I really did not wont to wait to order them in, afterall the sun was out and wonted to go cruising. So after closer inspection of the factory units I realized that they would work fine as spacers.

It was pretty simple to do so here go's.

After you remove the speaker from the door cut the rubber that connects the speaker to the plastic case. Next break off all the tabs that connect the speaker to the case with some pliers. At this point the speaker should fall out of the case, cut the 2 wires and presto you have a spacer. Clean it up with some sand paper and mount your new speaker in the old case. And yes there are spots on the old case to screw in the new speaker. (You will have to look and see where). If u wont to u can wire up the speaker with the wire harness and no wire splicing will be need.

I know the new spacers really are not that expensive but hey u can't beat some thing that is free, and now u have a couple of bucks to spend on something else for your scion.

L8ter all.

Actually, depending on the midbass of the speakers, having something that is a bit more dense than plastic is a much better option.

Free is good, but wood > plastic.

Ya the plastic might not be the greatest but for people on a budget it is a good alternative.

And really what do u have to loose, it did not cost anything.
