Hatch Release Melted
#22
I have the same problem. Mine isn't due to the weather. I live in VA and it is cold here. It's just a poor material. Caution to the wise. My button stuck and the rear panel ripped off, I'm sure the cold weather contributed to the plastic being brittle and the weather stripping freezing to my car due to moisture. But be careful, and listen for the click before you pull.

Melted Trunk Button
My button is melted as well for my 2007 Scion tC. From Texas in Dallas. And yes the heat is intense. The dealership wants $78 for a new button, but all I need is the rubber piece. Any suggestions on where to get one for cheaper?
I saw someone post that they have one for $7. That is much more reasonable. Shoot me a message if you can help.
Thanks

I bought mine from someone on here for $20 a few months back. Practically brand new. I'm currently residing in NC so hopefully the stupid heat and humidity won't damage it as quickly as my old one.

My button is bad also. It's not melted but bad enough that when it's really cold, the hatch doesn't want to open. My xb is not under warranty. Went to the dealer to see how much the part cost...$60. I'd hate to see what they want for labor to replace it. Can't seem to find the part anywhere on the net. It looks like it would be easy to replace. Anyone know where you can buy the part without paying an arm and a leg?

Used on here or they facebook. Sometimes you get lucky and find one from a total or one from someone who went JDM rear.
