I had the DC and it was loud and droned big time. I replaced it with a Tanabe Medallion touring which is much better IMO. The Tanabe has a nice sound, not too loud and does not drone or resonate.

Where'd you get your Tanabe from?

I was debating between the Tanabe and the Greddy when I got mine. I heard they are very similar sounding, except the Greddy has the distinct Greddy sound. After a ton of research into the Tanabe, I was going to get it but found a better price on the Greddy so I went that route. The Tanabe does seem to be a great choice, if you don't mind paying a little extra for it.

i bought the strup exhaust from cadon69 and it is pretty loud. it sounds great though. paired up with the fujita cai, my car can get pretty loud at times. but most of the time its just me driving around in the car so i dont mind at all. i kind of like hearing it.

^ Have you had any police problems? I hear they don't take kindly to aftermarket stuff in CA.
I'll be getting a silencer for the longer trips for sure.

Cool, right now Fujiz has a deal going with a $25 rebate on the Strup... so it's $225 + shipping... I think that's the route I'm going to take.

"Have you had any police problems? I hear they don't take kindly to aftermarket stuff in CA. "

My TRD came with a certificate of legality, sort of... TRD warrants that the muffler is < 95dBA, legal in all 50 states.

I keep it in the glovebox... whether it'll do me any good if some cop doesn't like the noise, dunno...

Be aware that the straight thru glass packed mufflers will get louder over time. The TRD has different construction- it's not straight thru, actually a lot heavier than stock, which leads me to think it's filled with stainless steel curliques. It doesn't seem any louder today than when I put it on 10 months ago...

update on the DC exhaust.

something on someone's crappy car broke off in the wind on the freeway this weekend. the debris hit my car as i was going 95. the windshield did not break, but the tip of my exhaust got a crack in it's weld. i don't know if the debris caused it, or if this happened from something else. anyways...for future reference, if anyone plans on getting the DC exhaust....

if it starts sounding like rice, check the weld on the tip, it may be cracked. thankfully those guys are nice. i called AEM as soon as i found the crack and they will repair/replace it, as long as it's under a year old. they didn't even ask what happened, now that's a good warranty.

Ive had 4 different muffler/exhaust setups on my xB and they all have an annoying drone at 60mph/3000RPM/5th gear. Its just the tone the car makes at that point....

I seriously don't have this problem with my Greddy EVO2. I also have the 5 Spd and I drive a lot of freeway miles and really don' t have any drone.

i paid 20 bucks for my muffler.

cherry bomb with chrome tip.

me and my friend welded it together

awesome LOW rumble kind of like a muscle car.. some drone in 3000 range, but generally a real quiet exhaust, unless im WOT.

plus it flow better than any echaust out there

it may not win a car show, but its good

No complaints about the sound of my EVO2. Only fault with it is that it is advertised as a cat-back, although it's actually axle-back.

i have a Strup v2 combined with the Strup header, and it is loud. VERY loud. it drones at all speeds, but i love the sound, so i dont mind at all. i just crank up the tunes. but i really like the sound of the back pressure when i let off the gas at low RPMs. its real gurgly

i also had a GReddy SP2 (for sale- if interested shoot me a PM) and it is MUCH quieter, and hardly any drone. they both give a nice deep sound especially when paired with a header... not ricy at all.

so, there you go ;) thats my .02
