Hey guys pretty new to this stuff, quick question...
So I purchased my '08 XB2 last Tuesday, now I want to get into some tuning, so I have just purchased a TRD front strut brace, a TRD rear sway bar, I also purchased a TRD Quickshifter as I have a manual trans and am looking for some faster shift time. As I said, I am pretty new to all this stuff, I wanted to know how "easy" it is to install the Quickshifter and what tools I'll need.
Oh and I will be purchasing a CAI next week if all goes well with this install.

Oh good to know, what about CAI, anything you recommend? I live in SoCal so I don't have to worry about it raining too much, and from what I hear they're pretty easy to take off when needed. But any good ones for the XB2 within $250-$300 range?

you should be able to pass smog with an intake that isn't CARB approved, but personally, i would not risk it... go with the TRD, or start checking all the major players' web site, and see if there are any others that are CARB approved - i believe AEM is CARB approved as well as the TRD.. on my gen1, i didn't go with a CARB approved exaust and it hasn't been aproblem, but i didn't mess with the cat or the resonator - i pass smog no problem, but again it's a gen1, different engine

Geez, thanks guys, I made the post thinking nobody would look twice, much less reply. Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to play it safe and go with the TRD, for the quality and price and power, etc..

yeah, but there are a few posts now and then about people in cali getting pulled over by cops and given a fix it ticket, or testing ticket or whatever.
so it is up to you, put on non CARB parts, and risk occasional police harrassment, put stock parts back, get inspected, put parts back etc. or just put the CARB parts on, and laugh at the police when they ask you to pop the hood.

solution: move out from cali.
just kidding.
but yeah, CARB is something to consider since you're in cali, but i dont think it's a big issue, as long as your ride doesn't look like it's asking for trouble. avoid anything that screams "PULL ME OVER" and you'll be fine.
congrats on the new car btw. have fun modding!

Lol, yeah cops out here just LOVE to pull you over for just about anything that looks like it might be fast. I think they're just jealous cause they have to drive Fords all day, haha.
But I think Im definitely set on the TRD CAI.
