Default Pioneer T1819 in 2006 xA?

Has anyone here installed a 2012 model T1819 receiver in their xA?

I read some reviews and saw a few people here have put it in their 2008-10 2gen xb, and some other people in other toyota forums have put it in older 4runners, etc. I figured out what i KNOW id need to order (bluetooth mic, antenna converter) to get basic functionality.

What id LIKE is to get the USB working so i could just play music off a 2Gb flashdrive.

My xA has the stock system, with the Aux only- no ipod connector.

I got a good deal on a T1819, and ordered the stuff i know ill need, so it should be mostly plug-n-play once i get around to it. Just the HD radio and bluetooth streaming should be worth it.

So if anyone out there has done it or could point me in the right direction as far as hints or tips, id be grateful

I'm actually looking to do the exact same thing and was wondering where we can get the USB plug/port from?

You will also need the 28 pin to 20+8 conversion harness, AND an antenna adapter.

Take the USB to radio connector cable (mine said "tC USB conversion"), cut it on the end opposite the radio. strip the 4 wires- 2(purple/brown) are foil wrapped and thinner than the red and black wires.

Find a cable with a USB female end. I used a USB extension cord i had laying around.

Otherwise youll need toyotas extension cable, and USB outlet- close to $200 just on those 2 things.

Cut the male end from the USB extension cable, and strip the 4 wires. red/white/green/black should be the order of the USB pinout.

Splice together red to red, black to black, purple to white, and green to brown. I soldered the connections too. Thats what youre going to be plugging in your (up to) 256GB thumb drives, etc.

You can run the cord anywhere you want, i just wrapped mine up and tucked it next door inside the glove box.

Pandora comes in loud and clear via bluetooth, as well as winamp on my cell phone. the HD stations are worth it on their own.

If you own an xA or 1st gen xB, you will NEED the 4 proprietary cables for

microphone (if you want bluetooth),
wire harness adapter (plug and play),
antenna adapter(if you want HD radio),
And USB if you want to use that function.

It looks like a boring factory stereo, so thieves wont be interested.

And now that youve got the wiring and plugs converted to 2012 standards, you should be able to use any Scion stereo for the foreseeable future!

Seems like a lot of work for a "stock" radio. I understand the appeal of the factory look, but our Scions look pretty decent with a tasteful aftermarket radio installed. I've got the Kenwood KDC-X996 and it's feature set is light years ahead of any stock Scion HU. My ex had a 2012 xD and the radio was fairly nice, even had a RCA pre-out for a sub, but the display was a killer.

Reviving this thread. I put a t1819 in my 06 xb everything works other than the aux port by the ebrake. For the life I me I can't figure it out I think it needs some type of resistance to turn on the port. Had anyone got this to work?
