Default rattle in the dashboard @ high RPMs?

has anyone else experienced this? i think i've narrowed it down to it being something loose in the instrument cluster on the dash, as the sound disappears if I hold it down while going through the gears. primarily experiencing this @ 2nd and 3rd gear once the tach hits about 4000+rpm.

do i just need to shift sooner? i've emptied out the entire car (which is 4 days old now with 130 miles) of anything that might rattle, and am certain that it is the instrument cluster....

any thoughts/suggestions on what to do here folks?.... it's a concern as my research on the xB was that it has "no unusual squeaks and rattles of cars in this price range"

:?: :?: :?:

p.s. some f-ing dolt backed into my car last night. already need a new bumper. hooray for city living

I don't think there is a TSB for that specific rattle. I have it too, it is coming from the lens over the gauge cluster. If you put your finger on it, it should stop making the noise. I haven't had the dealer try to fix it yet.

Some padded or felt-backed tape on the inside of the gray plastic ring around the speedo fixed my 3k-4k rpm rattle. If I remember correctly, the gray outer ring is rattling against the speedo lens. It's pretty easy to get to, just need to figure out where the padding needs to go. Be careful with all the tabs during re-assembly.

yeah, there's a TSB on it. I've been in three 04's and all have that rattle.
