Default Review: Tokico HP Shock Absorbers

Review: Tokico HP Shock Absorbers

MSRP: ~$440. (set of 4, sold separately)

Purchase Price: Wouldn't you like to know

Vehicle: 08 xD, Manual w/o VSC

Other Suspension/Drivetrain modifications that may boost the review score:
Tanabe NF210
TRD Rear Sway Bar
Yokohama S.Drive 215/40R18
Five Axis R6:F 18x7.5 +35

-----

Before the installation: The NF210 and RSB (not sure how usefull the RSB really is on a trailing arm...) improved body roll (reduced) and increased the usefulness of the tires (body roll will cause me to freakout thinking "oh noz, roll over!", while tires had loads of grip left). Definitely a great start to improving the handling.

Installation: Easy with the right tools. No adjustments needed. Simple in-and-out installation. Great fit and finish, as always, with Tokico products.

Notable improvements: Oh boy, it almost feels like the car is on coilovers. Body roll is significantly reduced. Simple cornering can be done effortlessly without having to think about weight shifting. More advanced corners can be taken at higher speeds and now I feel the tires may give instead of freaking out over a possible rollover (lol).

Notable disappointments: I can now feel every washboard bump on the freeway. It's a little bit of an annoyance, but not the end of the world-- it was definitely to be expected.

Aside from that, it's definitely a great upgrade for those looking for tighter handling. They will also work well with the factory springs (if you wanted improved handling w/o lowering), but the effect won't be as substantial. I haven't had the chance to do a head to head against the TRD (the TRD are actually made in Japan, so they are SUPER high quality, but the price is also a lot higher), but I'm sure either one will do. Just pick the one in your budget.
