well anyways how do you get the sticker residue off your windows

i still see mine when my windows fog up in the corner of my windsheild and my right rear door from the window sticker...

and its getting annoying too see 'em too

and i tryed isopropyl alcohol and it didn't work :? and a few other window cleaners that failed to work also

 

At the hardware store by stuff called Goo Gone.

Yep, I've got some at home.

 

No no no.... You don't need any of that stuff to remove residue on glass.

Just use a razor blade and some good glass cleaner...

Let the glass cleaner absorb, and slide the razor at a 45 degree angle

That other stuff is better for removing junk on painted surfaces... Glass is easy.

Good point. I used the Goo Gone/Off stuff to take the sticker residue off the plastic on my deflectors.

 

Goo Gone will also take some of the shine out of your wax job (if you have one) so don't use any more than you have to if its on paint. And be careful with the razor blade thing, if you use bad technique you'll scratch the glass. If you have tints and its the inside of the windows we're talking about don't even try it.

Never used Goof Off but I would guess its pretty much the same stuff.

 

its the stickers that the dealer puts on your car (window sticker and and the window sticker that goes in the driver side corner of the windsheld they got it all off, and the window is clean but when the window fogs up the sticker residue is still there

i tried to do the razor techneek that didn't work tried the goof off that didn't work, WD-40 didn't work, break clean didn't work, acetone didn't work(yes i know thats a little harsh to be using pls forgive me) and i used paper towels and dabbed in or sprayed it onto the paper towels and after each one i clean it real good with a window cleaner

i'm bettin that goo gone might not work but i will try

maybe i'm being or getting too paranoid about the window residue and i have to just deal with it

 

After all that I'd suggest using some car wax. It's always worked for me on painted surfaces. Wax will not hurt the glass.

Sure, why not? You can use it on the outside, why not the inside. I was watching a car show on Spike TV a few months ago and one of their tips was how to clean glass like the pros do for car shows. They sprayed glass cleaner on the window and rubbed it gently with superfine steel wool to clean it. After wiping that clean they applied wax to polish it. I've heard of people using wax on windows and I've tried it myself. I like Rain-X better, for the outside, but it does work.

If your side windows where the dealer sticker was are fogging up badly enough that you can see the residue, there is another problem which is that the humidity inside your car is too high. The car needs to be run with AC on full blast or the defroster (with the AC compressor ON) for a good long time to dry the car out fully.

As far as the patterns that emerge from fogging, I don't know that you'll ever get rid of them 100% if they're that persistent. I know you could trade them for new patterns by applying a really harsh ammonia-based window cleaner to the inside like a concentrated windex. But that should be a last-ditch effort, and all you'd really be doing is trading one problem for another. That's a trick that's more useful if some wiseacre writes something on the window in the condensation that you don't want there. Every time the window fogs up it will re-appear until you do the windex trick. Then you'd be trading graffitti for streaks and smears... which I guess is better than graffitti...

 

The best and easiest thing I found to take it off is rubbing alcohol. Takes it right off, in fact, a dealer once told me that, and it works great!!

 

i used isopropyl alcohol window cleaner and still didn't work

(its a mopar cleaning kit i got a bunch of freebee from a chrysler 300 meet a efw years ago, comes with high gloss polish cleaner (wax), glass cleaner, and super kleen(mineral spirits))

i can do the windex thing and if that gets it i'll clean it again with another auto window cleaner
