Default tall or short filter?

Ok for the past 4 oil changes now, i asked for the stock replacement oil filter... well they gave me the filter the first time, took it home... wait! it's shorter than the one that CAME on the car.... so i called the dealer and explained... they told me i got ****.01 and needed ****.02 but the smaller one will work, just have to replace it more frequently.... so the second time, they game me the smaller one AGAIN! but i was late for a trip and i lived w/ it...., the third time i had to go up there after parts hours so i prepaid and had the LARGER one set aside for me.... the Fer was a small one AGAIN!! so the fouth time, i went in myself, pull the large one off the shelf and set it on the counter, he asked the car, i said xB, he told me i needed the smaller one, the larger one wont fit... so i corrected him, and he said "i dont think it will fit but go ahead, but you cant return it...." Well it fit, just like the one my box had on it from the factory....

Anyone else delt w/ this one? The filter differ in about 3/4" to 1" in length, but have the same gurth.... just seeing if anyone else ran into this or is getting swindled into getting the smaller filter!

PS - sorry for the long post
