Short Version: They didn't want to steal the new tC's "limelight" with a new model. Also they say some prototypes were late from Japan.

To me, the first part seems like an excuse for production issues... but whatever. Still curious to see how this does whenever it finally gets here.

Pricing came out on that one... something like 60 grand. Cygnet looks cool, but no thanks.

Actually, I knew about this privately before it hit the news. When I wrote TMC their "Thanks" letter back in July; I end it with future plans to buy a 2011 iQ.

They called back to verbally thank me back so they called my parents house not knowing I don't live there anymore. My stepmom wrote down a message with "IQ coming out next Summer" at the end.

I didn't bother to share this info with the world. Sorry!

Too bad for TMC; I may buy a used IS 350 from Carmax next year. Oops

If it does come out during summer, it would make more sense as Toyota could price it accordingly to what their competition currently has out on the market (maybe they can get an extra $400-600 more per unit releasing it say in July vs. releasing it in Feb/March). Considering gas prices are $3.10-$3.35 ish right now , by summer they are supposed to be nearing $4 per gallon ... just the momentum Toyota needs to justify the price increase for summer ;-)

Seems like Scion's got two issues:

1. They take too long to go from concept to product. Worse, the iQ isn't a brand new product -- it's been available in Europe for a couple years.
2. They're targeting low sales. Smart FourTwo had just 570 units sold in December, despite a captive market in the US. I think a micro-truck would do better.
