hi, i was trying to put in new speakers in my xb in the front doors and theres stupid rivets. how do u drill them out. is there an alternative that i could do thanks
the only alternative is to cut the speaker from the mount....this will trash your stock speakers but you'll be able to use the brackets to fit your new speakers...
to drill them out, get a bit the size of the small indent in the middle of the rivet, and just go straight through it.......it should just fall apart when you drill all the way through.......after removing the old speaker and bracket, you can easily make a new bracket/spacer out of MDF, a drill, and a jigsaw......

thats how i mounted my id's just rip out old speaker and place new one in works fine i had to make a braket to fit the rears tho
just use self tapers to mount speaker in the old mount
yah i should have used the mdf for the fronts i did use mdf in the rear tho .. i might still redo the fronts. i want to get some focals its a never endin battl
you drill out the center of the rivet with a 5mm drill bit then cut the old speaker surround and cut the basket out leaveing the center to mount your speaker to the rears have bolts so you know how to remove those do the same mutalation job to it then you can use those as a base i installed infinity 500si and 600si (deep mount fronts) they have rotateable tweeters and they sound great and are inexpensive
