Anyone have this setup that can post a soundclip or vid? I already ordered the headers and I'm a little concerned that they'll have similar rice problems like the DC headers. Although the Megan downpipe is a 4-2-1 versus the DC's 4-1, and also has a built in precat. I'm hoping the precat will restrict enough flow to eliminate the rice can syndrome, but it's obvious to me that the car will get a lot louder regardless. Any input?

 

Does ANYONE have this setup installed that can at least tell me if it's going to sound like ____ or not? Seriously, save me the time and hassle of the install if it is...

 

i think someone on here said that they had the weapon R intake with the megan and the trd exhaust and it made it sound like ____ so he put back on the stock muffler and it sounded good. Cant remember who it was though

 

as i recal it was a DC header but the guy took it off cuz it sounded to ricey

 

Hmmmm.....well I was the guy who posted the sound clip of the K & N CAI/DC Headers/TRD exhaust, but I sold my exhaust and put the stock back on since it sounded ricey. Good luck with the Megan headers. Let us know how it sounds and if it gives you a CEL.

 

i have the setup with Injen and mine sounds great.

 

Yeah... if it's too ricey I'm gonna have to sell my TRD axleback and get myself another exhaust. I was looking at magnaflow, but it's not out just yet. Maybe Injen, but certainly not Borla... WAY too f'ing loud and buzzy. I'll let everyone know how it sounds when I get my headers sometime next week. *crosses his fingers*

 

From what I've read on the Megan Racing Headers thread, these headers do in fact throw a CEL. I ordered mine from CreativeCompacts.com and spoke with James. He told me that Megan probably isn't going to do a recall on their headers and that the CEL sounded like more of an isolated incident. Isolated or not, the CEL can be fixed with the anti-fouler trick which will just have to do for now, unless I plan on purchasing an S-pipe from tCTunerz (do I dare? hehehe)

 

Any sound clips yet?

 

I have the megan racing header and the racing solution magnaflow bolt on exhaust... it changed the exhaust tone a little bit.. but not too bad.... no intake on mine though...

its going to sound like ____..theres nothing u can do to make a header not rice out a 4 banger....im about to take mine off if anyone wants a DC header...w/ only 200 miles on it.....sellin for..ehh $200.....

Not true, not true at all. On my 90 Eagle Talon, I had custom headers, custom 2.5 inch downpipe and straight 2.5 inch piping all the way back to the muffler which was a Blitz NUR spec. DEFINITELY DID NOT sound like a weedwhacker ricer mobile. It wasn't throaty like a Mustang V8, but it never sounded close to a ricey hyper-fart kind of sound. It is possible, just gotta find the right muffler.

 

i dun see the big deal, my friends all put dc headers on all theyre cars, they all got custom exhaust, 2.5inch and they all sound sweet, deep, and def not ricey, dc mustve dun somethin wrong for the tC's???

 

A kid I go to collage with is running a Skunk2 muffler and 2.5 inch pipeing with a DC header and it has a that awsome deep pur without making you def.

 

i have the dc header and injen exhaust setup. dont like it as much as i thought but im going to do the 2.5 inch mid-pipe on it to hopefully get a better sound. if anyone else has done something like this let me know the outcome
