the dealership screwed up when installing my plate they used long bolts to fasted the plate damaging the bumper, went to parts department to see what can be done i was told this is not their issue that nothing can be done for me and this is not covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. Even tho they installed and caused the damage when mounting my license plate they want me to pay for any repairs myself (estimate at body shop they use was 450$, i can buy a new bumper cover for that price online), the parts / service rep then proceeded to tell me that its not that bad from a distance only if you look closely. needless to say im fking ticked off
ill post a pic to show what im talking about there are 2 holes for the plate that are supposed to be there from the plate mounting bracket (even bought the bumper plugs expecting the holes) but then in-between those holes there is damage from the screws that secured the plate to the bracket, not just the paint is damaged but the bumper itself is actually bent in
Im thinking of contacting my sales rep or scion directly what would you think is the better step in this process, it seems simple that if i was to sue the dealership it would be a win as they caused the damage and are not willing to correct the problem. Even tho this is cosmetic i dont think it is fair to treat a customer this way
its currently raining outside so when it stops i will post some close up pics
I'm guessing you bought the car that way. Legally speaking, you have no case because you bought the car as is...long screws or not. Also since you have the 2011 model, it seems its been a while since you bought it. The dealership doesn't have a body shop so theres not much that they can do from their end.

Whether the dealer has a body shop or not is irrelevant. The Toyota dealer I go to has one on site and I wouldn't expect them to cover this case. You should have told them not to drill the holes when you bought the car. Even if that meant waiting on another one to be delivered.
Talk with the service manager if you haven't already. Politely explain the situation, what you expect them to do about it and why. If he/she still refuses, ask for a written reason (don't count on this) and get his/her name.
Call Scion Corporate and politely explain what happened, the conversations you've had and what you expect them to do. Corporate will take your info and get back to you. If they don't offer it, ask when he/she will follow up with you (a week is reasonable) and get the person's name you spoke with.
Scion Corporate has helped a lot of people on the forum, but it may take a couple calls from you. Always be professional and courteous and don't expect a solution sooner than 2-3 weeks. It may happen, but don't count on it.
You can also contact Jennifer @ Scion here on the SL. She works for Scion and has been very helpful for a number of different issues. I believe her profile is still listed in the announcements section.

He has no case for the 2 main holes, but the 2 extra holes shouldn't be there.

thanks for the reply but as posted above 2 holes were expected to be there even have the bumper plugs the issue is that the 2 middle dents / paint removal should not have happened if the plate was installed properly
technically, theres not much that can be done. first off, ur installing an "aftermarket part" on ur vehicle. had it been an oem part, than im sure something would have been done to rectify this matter.
Sorry to hear about your issue. I had the same thing happen to me but my dealer fixed it without question, I explained that I was going to plug the 2 factory holes, but they f'd up and made the other 2 because they used the wrong screws. I would take it up with the general sales manager or gm of the dealership....they hate bad pr, just be nice and keep bothering them until they cave
Well, I have the same issue on mine. I have tried to get the dealership to fix this issue but have not been very helpful with it. It is the only reason I still have the plate in the factory location. Don't want to have 4 ugly holes in plain view on my bumper.

Completely true about Scion Corporate. I never delt with Jennifer. But I had an issue with the dealership I bought my car from. Called corporate, had a complain filed, with a confirmation number, within a week, Corporate order the dealership to replace the parts. I actually called back and explain I dont want the dealership to touch my car, so I want the parts myself and I will do it myself. Corporate agreed, told the dealership to give me the parts with no core, and I perfectly replace it. I wont go into what it was...but Corporate does wounders.
That is def unfortunate what happened, which is why I tell them to not drill the front bumper(as long as the dealership already hasn't), and when it's time to get the plates at the dealership, I'll get the socket and rachet wrench and take that with me. They love to use power drills so I told them I'll just take the plates and do it myself out front, and you can keep your dealer plate frames too. Rear plate gets installed, front plate gets installed neatly under the passenger seat. It's negligence on the dealer's part for going with such a long screw to cause the damage, I'd keep trying to fight it.
I work for a dealership that will remain unamed. Whenever a customer contacts the GM about an issue like this the GM wants it fixed yesterday. Toyota is really big on customer service index (CSI for sort its a survey customers take) when a dealerships CSI drops Toyota gets bent quick.
So jump over some heads make sure that management knows.. peons can do nothing for you unless they pay out of their pocket.
yeah im gonna fix it, family friend works for body ship so when it gets nice gonna sand down slap some bondo and repaint
just wanted the satisfaction of winning one with the dealership but they wont listen and its a huge headache so for around 50-75$ gonna do it myself with some assistnce lol

Jenn is no longer with scion so i sent message to Timiesha@Scion
Just order some bumper plugs, and use some touch up paint to get those two little scratches. People can't even tell, I had the same issue... But I told the dealer not to install the front plate.
