Just wanted to knwo how many people had the side air bag option on their xA's. Did you have to wait a long time to get the car?

you might have to wait a while for the side airbags.

i went car shopping last october, and i was talking with a dealer here in northern california that gets universal praise from these message boards, and even they told me a manual grey xA with airbags would be a 5-month wait. they said there was a manual white xA with airbags available in the state, which could be shipped over within a few days, but i wasn't interested in white.

i ordered a manual grey xA without airbags and was driving it within a week.

you may have better luck if you're in the hunt for an automatic transmission.

I woudl take the white Figures it woudl take forever. I guess I will have to call my salesman and see what he can do for me.

 

I was gonna have to wait way to long if I wanted a black XA with side air bags. There just weren't any available. Took over a week, I think, just to find the one I got.

I was worried about driving such a small car without having the side air bags. So, I was really surprised to see the crash test results were the same for both the front and side. The XA scored 4 on a 5 scale.

I think it takes that long to get it made at the manufacturing plant no?

...in Japan.

It took longer for the dealer to find an Xa with side airbags. But for me this was a REQUIREMENT. I had to compromise on the color in order to get a car with side airbags (silver instead of white), but I figure my life is more important than the color of my car.

Get your dealer to keep searching for one. My dealer was able to find a dealer who had side airbags in the same state.


Side story: The car with side airbags came with mud guards. I told the dealer I didnt want the mudguards and to take them off (mostly because they are a ripoff). The dealer gave me some BS about not being able to take them off, because it would cost them labor charge to remove them. I told them I didnt want the car then. My wife thought I was nuts to cancel the deal over $100+ mudguards, but I told her to trust me. They called me next day and said they would take them off. By the way, it took them literally 3 minutes to unscrew the mudguards off. After the sale, my salesman told me they make very little profit off Scion cars. In fact, at his dealership, it's common for the salesman to recommend a Toyota instead (because they make more off a Toyota car).

 

Side bags are not a problem for us. We have 7 xA's with side bags either in ground or allocated status. :D

 

Wow Shawn, I didn't know you were stacked like that. We are having a hard time with the side airbags. Only sold one so far, but had to do DX for it.

 

In the LA region side airbags just aren't out there. I haven't seen one in almost 9 months. Go figure.

Maybe the 05 MY will bring them back again. Can't say for sure though and I haven't heard anything from corporate either way.

 

Yeah, I waited at least 3 weeks to get the side airbags with the body color I wanted, and no other options inluded.

I went looking for a scion xA about a month ago here in Charleston, South Carolina.

I wanted a blue manual with side airbags..

They wanted 1k down to order the vehicle so I gave them my CC and they said it may take a week or so. Maybe a day if it's on the ground.

A few days later I get a call and they tell me they can't find a blue Manual with Side Airbags, but they found a polar white one.

I asked them to call me when they found a blue one, and a week later they call me telling me a Black Cherry one was found. They seriously tried to talk me into getting the black cherry on the 30th of April.

I got the story that it could take 6+ months to get a blue scion with airbags... ech... anyone know if it's legal to just cancel the CC charge because they can't get what I want?

Well it's been almost a month since I first place my order and I'm still waiting. They can't even get me a stock model blue scion. They've told me the whole SE is sold out of that colour and that I should just take a Silver, White, or Black Cherry.

This is depressing. I wanted a blue Scion with Airbags... and I just can't get it. I can't even get a base model blue through my dealership.

I like blue, I want side airbags, but I refuse to drive Black Cherry or White.


If any of you dealers out there have a blue manual with side available, let me know and I'll have my dealership give you a call. Maybe they can work something out
