Default Dash lit up like a freakin UPDATE BELOW!

An appointment has already been made with the dealer for this afternoon, but I wanted to see if anybody here has some insight. Wife went out to the 06 xB this morning and turned it on and she got the following lights:
VSC
Trac Off
Check Engine

I figure they are all related to the VSC system having a problem, and a quick check of the manual confirmed that if there is a problem with the VSC system then the Trac Off light will pop up as well, and I know that the check engine light will come on when there is a problem with any sensor on the vehicle.

Manual says it's okay to drive, but I didn't pay for the warranty and ____ to just let it go or get my hands dirty trying to fix it.

It is pouring rain here in SoCal, so I'm thinking something got wet....but who knows.

Any ideas?

Nope...car is completely stock except for some aftermarket wheels (15")

No other problems with the car at all, just over 6k on the clock.

Gas cap may not be on tight then....

Other than that, you would have to run the codes.

Good luck, hopefully nothing major.

Yeah, I'm aware of the gas cap deal, and I usually make sure it goes past 2 clicks...but who knows....maybe I neglected when I filled it up on sunday.

Oh wells....time to see if the dealer is as cool as they were when I bought the car. I'll keep everybody posted.

Disconnecting the battery will not fix whatever caused the problem to begin with. All it will do is reset the ecu and the lights will come back on once the car goes through a drive cycle.

You said you didnt pay for the warranty, but the car only has 6k on it? You don't have to pay for the warranty up to 60k...some people pay for an extended warranty, but this is covered.

What I said was that I didn't pay for the warranty so that I would be the one messing around trying to fix it.

for a quick ECU reset w/o disconecting the battery, you can pull one fuse... see the tech forum... ecu reset w/o discon battery

Default DASH LIT UP

Wife went out to the 06 xB this morning and turned it on and she got the following lights:
VSC
Trac Off
Check Engine
=================

Happened in my RS1.0....took it to my favority DEALER.

Charged my 1/2 hour labor and reset the lights (what someone calls the ECU, I guess...not being technical)...DEALER tech called it the "fume sensor" that's set off by not TIGHTENING THE GAS CAP....rats.

Now I'm sure to give the gas cap an extra twist before driving off from the pump.

AS I said before.....I know how to reset an ECU, but doing so will not fix whatever problem caused it to come on in the first place. If the problem is still there the lights will come on again as soon as the car goes through a drive cycle.

Car is at the dealer now.....nothing but friendly faces so far, just waiting for a response.

Why did they charge you labor? That fix should be under warrenty.

Dealer called and said they need a few more hours. I guess the code came back referring to the emissions system, so they have to let the motor cool completely before they can look further.
