which lowering springs are the best for a scion tc? also the best for not alot of money?

 

best and cheap doesnt mix together. same for quality and cheap.

This has been covered quite a bit. People are going to like (and recommend) what they have.

Just like I would totally recommend Hotchkis ($154 trdsparks). My g/f liked them on mine enough that she got herself a set too.

Figure out what kind of numbers you're looking for. All of the springs are relatively the same in price. Difference might be $20 or something - so don't worry about that.

For less than a $100 more you can get Eibach springs. They have more experience in making springs than the rest, lifetime warranty too. If you are going to lower you car you need to upgrade your shocks. People on this site have said the oem shocks can burn out in 10,000 to 15,000 miles once the car is lowered. There is no way to lower it and keep it under $600 for a reliable setup. Do it right the first time or you will paying labor and parts to replace the oem shocks in a year or two. One the other hand their are people with lowering springs and 25,000 mile later the shocks are still good. I went with Eibach and Koni yellow. Have not installed yet. Cost $780 doing labor myself and both the shock and springs have lifetime warranties. Should turn like a drunk man heading towards a roadblock.

 

^^ That's all well and good, but many people cannot afford the shocks/struts right away, so will use the springs on the OEM struts until they either blow out or they have the money to replace them.

And I'm at nearly 19k with OEM shocks/struts without issue. I actually haven't seen too many reports of them blowing out. So I'm not sure where you got the 10-15k. I'm sure some have, but I haven't seen too many reports of it.

I'd love to get the Konis... but I've heard they require some modification and pieces of the OEM strut to be used. I'll probably be getting the TRD struts eventually... just not on my list yet if they're working out OK so far.

 

Well I guess I'm just lazy. I would rather save my money until I can do it right, rather do the entire process 2 times. I hope your shocks last a long time but right now the piston is not functioning in it’s proper location for longevity. . Patience is a virtue.

 

I knew it was going to lessen their life when I installed them, so I'll address it if something happens. Not too worried about it.

You should post up pics of those Konis when you get them on though - I'm curious to know exactly what needs to be done to make them fit.
