checklist for trip.
k so im taking a long trip in my box this weekend. i just got an oilchange 500miles in advance ready for the trip. even though ida probably finished my 500 miles in the three days
also i swapped out my rims for bigger rims less than 100miles on the clock. and im at 7300 right now. so im thinking of
1) rotate tires before trip
2) rotate tires immediately after trip
anything else i should carry along with me or check before going?
i have the option to set up my audio system now or should i wait a few more months. i got about 1300 watts of bass waiting to be thrown into my ride. it be nice to have a good sound system during the long haul
i washed it today i shoulda waited until tomorrow, but it needed a wash and i think im going to vaccum it tomorrow.
my trip is 1k miles approx one way. i took a trip half that in my crx once and with the b16 (high revving motor) the revs stayed around 5-6 depending on what speed id travel at. i figured ill be traveling at speeds of about 80mph for most of the trip. possibly going into triple digits for bursts at a time
anyways just some helpful hints / advice. i know many of you have years and years of driving experience more than me. but this is my first real long trip of many to come.
i started driving when i was 16, now im 23. so i got about 8yrs but if you factor in the fact that im from philly and travel in ny and dc often i say i got about 20 yrs of driving experience

also if the ride is going to be really uncomfortable i have the option to switch to my 15s for a few months and go back to 18s later, considering i wont be back for a few months if i leave my 18s behind
I'm taking a somewhat long trip too.

Jeff
im having the stuff installed from circuit city. the people their have been good to me through 3 cars. so its really not just the cost (they always do their best to give the best deal). but also they look out for me bigtime if anything ever goes wrong (which it has). so its always good to have a warranty on parts and labor
IMO ... no need to rotate tires unless they have seen 7K miles in one position on the car. To rotate before and after the trip? Not unless your going from coast to coast and back. As far as the durability .. its a Toyota. This car was built with form and function in mind. As long as your not at 3 miles on the od. you should be fine. ( Anything over 1K or so, the engine is already broken in )
Good luck on your trip.
I am about to take one myself.
Remember if you changed your wheels,be sure to carry at least 4 of the eom acorn style lugnuts for the mickey mouse spare. Not to mention the socket or lugwrench to fit them both.
I bought a bra for my trip.Hopefully no stones in my glass!
Just check all the fluids and tire pressures.
I think the box will do fine!

Things I like to have:
A can of Fix A Flat, JIC.
Fill a cooler with drinks before you go. you'll save hella time and money.
Flashlight
Try to stop and stretch every 3-4 hours. Less stiffness the next day.
Good tip about the lugnuts for the spare. I ran into the problem of the lugwrench when I got all ready to paint my calipers. Bought a folding star wrench that is thin enough to go around my nuts (lug, that is...)
