Instagram Account of the Week #7: toyotarob
JDM drift styling makes this Lexus LS400 stand out from a crowd.
Welcome one and all to ScionLife‘s weekly shout out to the Toyota vehicles we all know and love, on Instagram. This week’s featured account is the first Lexus to appear in this series. Even though it has been rebranded as a Toyota.
We are highlighting the account of toyotarob, the owner of this bonkers LS400 J-style drift build. This is first-generation Lexus LS400, which, at the time, was Lexus’ flagship vehicle. It was a world leader in luxury, refinement and dependability. Of course, nearly three decades later, this LS has turned into something completely different.
This 1UZ V8-powered cruiser has taken inspiration from the Japanese drift missile scene, where, really, anything goes. Mix-and-match body panels in various states of repair are accentuated by the serious amounts of low this this “Toyota Celsior” is packing.
This is handled by coil-over suspension with 326 power air ride stacked on top. That means that with a the flip of a switch, this LS400 goes from 100% function to 100% form in seconds. Perhaps the low ride height partially explains some of the battered body work. Or, more likely, our guess is that this Celsior has seen some drift action in it’s day. We love the JDM-inspired aesthetic.
