JDM Toyota GT86 Glides Through Tsukuba Circuit with Ease
Mild-mannered ZN6 runs respectably through Japan’s famous Tsukuba circuit.
The YouTube channel Attack Official @DAYS has quickly become one of the Internet’s leading resources for amateur motorsports action happening in Japan. Specifically, their coverage of the famous Tsukuba circuit is prolific. These daily bumps showcase various time attack builds giving it their all at the famous track. Everything from all-out race cars, to mild-mannered daily drivers show up and throw down in front of the camera.
That brings us tidily to this Toyota GT86. This ZN6 may look rowdy, with the graphic livery, but the setup is dead simple. Notice how quiet it is while running around Tsukuba? This car uses a bone stock FA20 engine, right down to the exhaust tips. It may have a GT wing, but that’s it for the aerodynamic devices, and body upgrades, not even a splitter up front. It’s on aftermarket suspension, as noted by the lowered ride height and reduced body roll. Rounding things off are aftermarket wheels shod with Bridgestone RE-05D full-tread competition tires.
This setup is easily replicable for track day enthusiasts anywhere, and is seemingly quite effective. Despite the modest power output, this ZN6 knocks out a respectable 1:06.458 lap around Tsukuba. When will it be our turn?
