I'm sure you could run the Si without premium gas, but Honda is recommending it for optimum performance. A lot of similar cars have recommended 91+ oct, like the Acura Type S and Cobalt SS. Most cars don't gain any benefit from it, but you actually do get a *slight* drop in performance if you don't use it on some cars.[/quote]

i dont know, but something tells me that with that power for that little car, alot of people are going to buy the new Civic and street race, IMO...

Many of you here have not read up on the civic. Joe@dezod it does have the drive-by-wire system. Read the specs, it states: Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™ is standard on all civic models. The 140hp numbers are standard for all civic models as well. Differences are rear disc brakes, wheels, and other minor changes on the higher-class models. It's actually a more than decent "sports" compact. It was designed specifically to bring back the buyers it once had, or new ones interested in the performance side the civic once had. It's all there. If you ask me, the extra money spent on the civic EX or even SI will be well spent with the added features and performance upgrades on those particular models. It will all come down to if you like the styling or not, it does have the "performance" oriented build. I'm torn between the tC and the Civic.

They need to hurry up and push out the si so my girl can get it and I can drive it, while still keeping my box!

i think it's a really nice car for once.

decent power, especially in the SI, which is probably better than the rsx-s for the money (actually.. it is) and the interior looks modern, for once, instead of some drab garbage.

nice job, honda. glad there's healthy competition. makes for better and faster advancements.

Mechanically, I'm sure it's a great car...but the design doesnt' do it for me. It looks like an mini-Accord...my MOM drives an Accord. No thanks. I'm sure with some hot-after market tuning and modding, it can be made to look a little more sporty. It reminds me of a Chevy Cobalt!! lol.

If you guys look on the site at the four door civic....they have options for underbody spoilers.....really makes the car look hot. I wish (as if I had the money to go and buy one, w/e) they offered them for the two door...but I guess they are keeping that for the si version...

Those tails on the 4-door are way goofy...
I think the coupe is a good direction for Honda tho, they've been treading water for awhile.

I "built my own" at honda.com. Black, EX, 4-door, underbody kit, foglights.... It looked nice, but it was over 20 grand! That's Accord territory! And that's with the regular engine, not Si

that head unit looks pretty sweet though.
i think honda did a good job on the new civic, unfortunetely, we're going to be seeing a lot of them around.

only good thing, is that we'll see less tCs on the road
exactly.

that Si is nice, 6sp, 200hp, LSD and under 20k. High-revving engine, lighweight, and responds well to boost. Will be interesting to see boosted Si's vs boosted tCs, although I'd guess with the LSD it might end up a bit ahead...

I "built my own" tC at scion.com. Black, ground effects, spoiler, TRD muffler, suspension, it came out to $22k!! that's Camry territory!

interior are decent compared to the previous generation, but definitely uglier on the outside (what's with the accord-look alike front and goofy tailights?) and uh.. it's just another civic. Boo on that. tC all the way baby~

I don't know why you think you could get an Si for under 20 grand. The pricing for the EX is almost 19, so I am sure that adding the upgraded engine and other enhancements would jack that price up. Has anyone actually seen the actual MSRP listed for the '06 Si? If you could get it for under 20k, it would be a steal of a car, because that is way under the Acura Type S. The price comparison for the Scion tC should be the Honda EX, because it has similar equipment and power.

i like the interior exept for the angle of where the Navigation is at. Its tilted slighthly to the driver. sucks for the passenger. the only thing good about the interior is the steering wheel and the gauge set up/ color.
